Current Museum intern Bailey Clark, facilitated this year’s Erie Makes program at the Museum. Participants created sculptural forms influenced by lyrics, poems, or personal stories.The workshop invited participants to use clay to explore personal stories and memories.

This fall, the Erie Art Museum offered Beginner Urban Sketching, led by local artist and instructor Kim Kloecker. Held Tuesday evenings from September 9th - October 14th, the class welcomed students of all levels eager to develop their drawing skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.

The Museum will once again be hosting vendors for Small Business Saturday! Shop small with dozens of vendors at the Erie Art Museum (with Free Admission!) and the Boston Store from 10 am – 4 pm.

The Art Bridges Foundation ‘Access for All’ initiative brings you free admission to the Museum today from 10 am – 2 pm! Please also note that the Museum will be closing early at 4 pm due to a private event.

Museum staff enjoyed an inspiring evening at City Gallery to check out ARTISPHERE, Dafmark Creative Art Center’s 5th Annual Youth Art Show, on November 12th. The event showcased the talent of over ~60 young creatives and will remain on view until November 22nd.

The Museum, in partnership with Erie Arts & Culture and resident artist Nicholas Gore at Dafmark Art Center, is relaunching the Kids As Curators program. Yesterday, students and Teaching Artists met at the Museum to learn about collections, curation, and exhibitions. Opening details TBD!

At the Fiber Arts Expo, makers from weavers to eco-dyers shared their craft. Paired with Marks of Resistance: Käthe Kollwitz Prints & Shabnam Jannesari’s talk, the day showed how textiles carry stories of labor, identity & resilience across cultures and centuries.

The Lake Erie Fiber Arts Guild gathers monthly to share skills, exhibit work, and celebrate their passion for textiles and fiber art. Stop by the Customs House during Access for All, 10 am – 1 pm, on Saturday, September 20th. Admission is free.

To preserve the past we need to build on a solid foundation, literally. This week, Fiske & Sons are moving the Customs House steps to install a waterproof membrane underneath them to prevent further deterioration from water.

The Erie Art Museum is -behind- construction! Some areas of sidewalk will be inaccessible while upgrades to the power grid are made downtown. Crews have assured us that enough walkways will be clear to access the Museum. The Museum will remain open through these upgrades!

Some mysterious barriers have shown up in front of the Museum entrance on 5th Street this morning. We are working on finding more details, but in the meantime, the Museum IS OPEN!
