Burning our waste is making Philly, Chester, and our planet sick. We need to end this injustice, which is why I'm grateful City Council's Environmental Committee sent my Stop Trashing Our Air Act to the Council floor with a favorable recommendation.

Today's the day! After years of construction, the Martin Luther King Jr Drive Bridge is OPEN! This is a crucial connection between West Philly and the rest of our city. And thanks to the new protected shared-use path, pedestrians and cyclists can make the trip seven days a week.

In West and Southwest Philly, riding SEPTA is a necessity, not a choice. We rely on transit to get to work or school and access essentials like healthcare and groceries. By refusing to fund mass transit, Senate Republicans are playing with fire, and the consequences will ripple across PA.

Yesterday, West Philly celebrated the 60th anniversary of Dr. King’s Freedom Now Rally! On August 3rd, 1965, 10,000 Philadelphians gathered at 40th and Lancaster to hear Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speak about the collective power we yield when we the people stand up for justice. (1/2)

Promises made, promises kept! The Kingsessing Pool is OPEN and it looks fantastic! The pool is open for free swim between 1 PM and 5 PM on weekdays and noon and 5 PM on weekends. Family/adult swim is on weekdays from 5 PM to 7 PM.

What a pleasure to spend time today in the Summer Winter Garden — which will be preserved thanks to legislation I introduced! Community gardens reduce crime, improve health, build community, give neighbors access to affordable and nutritious produce, and so much more. They deserve our support!
