Womp, womp. A double-play ball ends the Kernels threat with just one run. They're down 3-1 heading to the ninth in a do-or-die matchup for the Midwest league Championship.

A passed ball gives the Kernels their first run. Ruiz draws a walk and bases are still loaded with one out to prompt a pitching change. 3-1 Whitecaps with Jaime Ferrer coming up.

Caden Kendle just got hit by a 97 MPH fastball to load the bases for the Kernels. Poncho Ruiz who is 2-for-3 so far tonight will be up.

A pair of singles starts the bottom of the eighth inning for the Kernels. They have gone 0-for-8 to this point with runners in scoring position, and left nine men on base.

Ruddy Gomez gets a strikeout on a nasty slider, but the ball gets away from Ruiz at catcher, allowing a run to score. So it's now 3-0 Whitecaps with two outs and a runner on third.

Lefty Christian MacLeod came on for the Saints in the sixth with a 5-1 lead, but as it ends they're now down 7-5 heading to the seventh in Memphis.

Saints load the bases in the top of the sixth, and Jonah Bride scores one with an RBI single before an error on a Jose Miranda grounder gets two more across. Saints lead 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth.

Kernels have the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, but the MWL leading pitching staff of the Whitecaps comes through to keep them off the scoreboard. 2-0 West Michigan going to the seventh in Cedar Rapids.

Oof. Some Drama to end the top of the sixth. A two-out double in the top of the sixth against Spencer Bengaard scores one for the Whitecaps, but a questionable play at the plate nabs the final out of the inning. Whitecaps lead 2-0 with top of Kernels lineup due up.

Langenberg is lifted for Brennen Oxford after 4 2/3 innings in Cedar Rapids. Oxford strikes out the final hitter and it remains 1-0 Whitecaps.

Langenberg and Ruiz having some trouble with the Whitecaps running game, as they have four steals against them so far in the top of the fifth.

Kyler Fedko hits his ninth double, and two batters later Jonah Bride drives him in with a double of his own. Saints lead 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

An infield single from Kyler Fedko in the top of the first put the Saints up 1-0 over Memphis. Same score in the top of the third as Andrew Morris has retired the first six hitters of the game.

Poncho Ruiz leads off the bottom of the third with a double, just beating/avoiding a tag play at second base.

Big 1-4-3 double-play to escape a jam in the top of the third with limited damage for Cedar Rapids. But they are down 1-0 in game 2 of their Midwest League Championship series.

I have never seen what I just did in this Arkansas-Tulsa game. Extra innings, bases loaded, nobody out. Pop up to shallow left field. Left fielder just...let it drop in front of him...his throw home is then off target and Arkansas is up by one, still with the bases loaded...

Whew. Travelers get a double-play ball with bases loaded to keep the game tied at two in extras. They're heading to the 11th inning with the Wind Surge needing them beat the Drillers to pull within in one game.

Lame. A two-out wild pitch in Tulsa ties the game at two. Arkansas is letting the Wind Surge down, but this one is heading to extra innings.

Uh oh... Errant pickoff throw from Travelers pitcher results in the Drillers leadoff man reaching third base with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth.

In Wichita Wind Surge playoff chances watching fashion, the Tulsa Drillers have just fallen behind the Arkansas Tavelers 2-1 in the top of the ninth. The Wind Surge began the day 2 games back of the Drillers, and won their game earlier.

Rodriguez fights off a few pitches, but gets locked up on a 98 MPH fastball on the inside half and is called out on strikes to end the game. It's a 10-game losing streak for the Saints.

Emmanuel Rodriguez is the Saints last hope at CHS Field. They are down 2-1 with two outs and the tying run on first in the ninth.

Kernels go down one-two-three in the ninth to fall in game one 7-1 to the Sky Carp. The teams will travel to Cedar Rapids tomorrow, with game two of their playoff series on Thursday.

At CHS Field, RHP Andrew Morris has finished 6 innings, with 85 pitches on his ledger. Two unearned runs have the Clippers in front, but he allowed just two hits, walked two, and struck out two. He retired nine in a row from the third through the fifth.

Kernels starter Jose Olivares finishes 4 2/3 innings in his game 1 start. Gets charged with 2 runs (1 earned) on four hits and four walks. Was able to limit some damage with 6 K's. But the Kernels are down 2-1 in the sixth, and the Sky Carp have the bases loaded.
