Seriously, fuck the NHL right now. That was not a kicked in puck. This league is a joke.

Tough loss for the Whitecaps today but there’s a lot of positives for the team after this season. They are now a respectable club in the MLS now. They are a relevant team in Vancouver. And thanks to Muller, the club is now a destination for high end talent.

Welcome Whitecaps to the Vancouver major league sports team curse. You make it all the way to the end and blow it. Better luck next year I guess.

Looks like the Whitecaps forgot that Messi was on the field and completely blew the momentum they had built all game.

I need to apologize for something I posted yesterday. I said the NHL has the worse officials in all sports. I was wrong. MLS is pretty bad too.

Whitecaps looked good after the own goal. Hopefully they can continue the push in the 2nd half and convert.

I don’t know what to say about this Canucks team. They had offensive chances all game but couldn’t finish. Defensively, they are horrible and that’s including Hughes. 32 is unreliable. The power play is just a game of keep away and no shots. It’s so frustratingly disappointing to watch this team.

That second Mammoth goal was on Hughes. He just gave his guy a meaningless shove which didn’t take him out of the play and he tipped the puck in.

It looks like the Canucks are playing against the Mammoth and Bettman’s cronies tonight. I’ve counted at least 3 missed calls so far, tonight.

Lankenin is constantly way out of position. He’s swimming around out there.

This Canucks team is frustratingly cursed. That wasn’t a penalty and of course they get scored on during the PP.

Canucks might be last place in the league this morning, but with 2 wins this weekend and a not so good weekend by the Panthers, Vancouver could be ahead of them in the standings. Just making a mathematical point.

Watching the Goldeneyes game. Yikes. This team is not good. They can’t complete a single pass and can barely enter the offensive zone. 1st period is over and shots are 2 to 18.

If Quinn Hughes is really giving up on plays and giving up on his team, then that’s not really becoming of a captain and a superstar player in the NHL. Character and loyalty has to be over ego.

I can’t be the only one thinking that Adam Foote as no idea what he’s doing by with an NHL team and that he has the Canucks structureless and directionless. Allvin should let him go and hire Manny like they should have done all along.

That 3-1 goal was a disaster. Canucks can’t finish a play and they can’t defend. Against the top team in the league, that’s pretty much the game folks.

Good game so far by the Canucks, but damn, Lankinen with a massive rebound that led to a goal.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If Quinn Hughes wants to be more loyal to a team that drafted his brothers, than the one that drafted him and made him Captain, then he has no place on the Canucks. In the end, fans want players that actually want to be here.

Just some late night thoughts on NHL overtimes and shootouts. A win should be worth 3 pts. Overtime wins should be worth 2 pts and 1 point goes to the loser. If a game goes to a shootout, both teams should lose their 1 point and the shootout determines who leaves with the 1 remaining point.

Vancouver sports recap for Saturday. Goldeneyes were completely outclassed by NY. Canucks let a point slip away by completely breaking down in OT. Whitecaps played a perfect game against San Diego and punched their ticket to the MLS Cup.

Wouldn’t have expected anything more from the Canucks. A complete debacle of a sequence to lose the game. They played to get the point, then it was just a mess of an OT.

The refs are complete morons. They determined that Pettersson got cut by the puck and not the stick, but there was still a high stick. They got so caught up in one thing, they forgot how to do the rest of their job.

Canucks are passing East/West way too much on the PP.

How embarrassing is it that a puck is inside the net, but it’s not really in the net for it to be a goal? The NHL needs to have a look at this sort of thing.

Ocampo just got a yellow card for minding his own business. Whitecaps are already getting screwed by MLS officiating.

Watching the Miami / NYC match on Apple TV and either there’s technical difficulties or the play by play guy is doing a really lazy job.

Yikes. Goldeneyes are not good. They are very slow out there. Really hard to watch.

So the New York Sirens are another New York team that plays in Jersey.

That was a really frustrating loss for the Canucks and not necessarily because of Vancouver’s play.

I gotta say, Canucks made a good effort today but the game was so poorly managed they couldn’t string together enough momentum to get a goal.

The officials had a terrible game that just created a horrible NHL product at the end. Canucks got the short end of a poorly managed stick.

It’s cute how the San Jose crowd is chanting “ref you suck” but it’s the refs that gifted the Sharks a 5 on 3 to get them back in the game.

Canucks are completely out of sync in the 3rd.

The refs are definitely influencing the game today and the Canucks are getting screwed.

Seravalli says “people close to Hughes says he is committed to Vancouver.” If this is true, then it might make sense why management is now willing to make major moves.

I’m not usually one for calling for coaches to be sacked, but I don’t think Foote knows what he’s doing. The Canucks have no direction and structure. They should have went for Malholtra and they still should.

I’ll be completely honest here. I’ve been behind the Canucks management group from day one, but I’ve finally lost faith in them. Rutherford says they need to get younger, but they traded for Evander Kane as their major off season move. They have no plan, no vision.

Here are my thoughts on all this ongoing Canucks/Hughes trade chatter. First, has he even said “if this team sucks I’m leaving?” If he has made it clear he’s more interested in winning as soon as possible over team loyalty, then I say “it was nice having you.”

Friday - Vancouver Goldeneyes win in OT in a resilient comeback. Saturday - Vancouver Whitecaps win an epic playoff game to move on to the Conference finals. Sunday - Vancouver Canucks suffer an embarrassing loss, at home, to ensure they remain 3rd worst team in the league.

It’s official. The Canucks are no longer mid. They are rock bottom. They need to change something if they want to salvage this season enough to convince Hughes to stick around. It’s not just injuries, it’s personnel, it’s coaching, it’s defence, it’s systems, or lack thereof.
