As a woman scientist, there’s nothing more empowering than doing mundane lab chores by yourself. Need someone to change the CO2 tank, you got it. Oh, the drierite in the pipette puller needs changing? Already done. The milliQ is making a funny noise. I can fix that!

I just learned that lemons are hybrids of a bitter orange and a citron, so life didn’t give us lemons. That’s such an apt analogy to what’s going on right. If we want lemonade, we’re going to have to cultivate and grow them, because it’s obvious life isn’t just going to give us the lemons. 🍋

My 18 year old brother was excited to vote in his first election. He’s studying abroad so he requested his absentee ballot, three times, and they just never sent it. We live in a deeply blue county, so his one vote wouldn’t have made a difference, but I do wonder if his experience is unique.

Usually I go to sleep and my headache goes away. Now I’ve woken up and realized I’ll probably have this headache for the next four years.
