I’m back and a poor #WingFriday entry through the battered window of an ancient BA 777-200 that delivered me back to Dubai last month.

Hello all. I am back! Work has taken my attention the last few weeks, the results have been amazing but I need some time for myself.

A fine afternoon in the beat lounge.

“We’re all ready to go” says the pilot. “But air traffic control have other ideas and want us to stay on stand here for 30 minutes !”

Today we have G-TNEC operating BA949, a 1 yo A321 NEO with the poverty spec no middle table and recaro’s down back. Unfortunately no WiFi has been installed yet and the plane has an inop APU so the cabin is cosily warm on this 100% full flight. Have two captains up front and a SFO so in safe hands

Munich airport is a mission and a half! Train comes in at T1 section E, walk to section A for BA check in to then walk back to D for security to go back to B for passport stamping. Gate is then back up in C and a nasty little corridor of clutter that I wasn’t able to get to use my group 0.

Off to the airport time.

Tram was going well until it decided to end service half way along.

I do love a nice tram ride back to the hotel after a few little beers.

Had a relaxing day at Therme Erding. Not to get back to town for some last night fun.

I like how walkable Munich is with refreshment stops where needed.

Always a great start to the day when the hotel breakfast included sparkling and beer 🤪

Tasty afternoon tea service on BA954, service wasn’t quite on form but the Hoppy Christmas beer was nice even if only one can was loaded on the flight. Arrived into a rainy Munich and now on the train to the centre.

Turn and burn Captain. Bavarian beer is waiting for me.

On the vile G-DBCC today, one of the dreaded ex-BMI A319 aircraft that still retain the uncomfortable and outdated interior. Last had this aircraft on a flight from NQY and that’s was long enough let alone todays 2h flight. Lovely welcome from the crew so let’s hope the service wins.

Group 0 boarding was very well executed today.

Had a nice bath in the arrivals lounge, met a famous chef in the CCR, now it’s time for a Power Nap in a cabana

Not a bad overnight flight, crew were pleasant and the IFM even came upstairs to greet me which was nice. Slept very well for a few hours in the old club bed (I love the big BA pillow) and watched some Christmas classics on the IFE. Upper deck is an absolute must on an A380 with the side storage.

Let’s turn and burn and hopefully get in the sky this time.

So we lined up up the runway, crawled along at taxi speed until half way along and then moved off to another taxiway. Captain has just announced some technical difficulty, let’s see what’s next.

Onboard G-XLEG, my forth time on this aircraft but finally I’m on the upper deck of a BA A380 (every attempt before I’ve been upgraded to J on the main deck). In the fine 53K with unobstructed access and all the storage lockers. No bubbles on the ground (DXB) but I’m ready for a winter warmer.

Tagine is on the way. Got a decent seat before the lounge gets packed out.

Scheduled in a quick meeting with a few of my managers before check in opened. Now it’s time to make my way to the Concorde bar 🥂

Well the cats out the bag - 30% municipality tax on booze will be back Jan 1st. Unfortunately the greedy on trade didn’t pass on the saving when it was suspended but no doubt will put up prices now.

Big morning of meetings. Big and upsetting change incoming for Dubai 1st Jan.

First caffeine dose administered, going directly to the second now.

It appears G-DBCC an ex-BMI dinosaur has been aligned for me tomorrow. Praying for a change as my back is still recovering after those vile seats from my last flight on it two years ago.

It’s been a long day, tomorrow will be longer too followed by BA106 at 02:15. Currently sat with a whisky planning how to get everything finished tomorrow before a weekend of Bavarian Christmas markets and steins of beer.

The national day celebrations are over, back to the office we go.

Public holidays combine perfectly with sitting by the pool with a beer.

Had a few pints of Dublin’s finest and have ended up with a jumper for my trip to cooler climates next week.
