Saw Neil Gaiman crawled out of the gross pit he has been residing in to reaffirm he still fucking sucks. I still enjoy the time I spent with his works when I was young, but I have zero desire to ever revisit his works again. Next time I visit my parents I need to donate the stuff of his I still own.

Today’s snow day miniature, Medusa for Warriors of Athena. Used this as sort of a test model for an olive based skin tone and to try out an idea I had for a white yoga recipe. Happy with the skin, not a fan of my toga experiment. Otherwise pretty pleased!

I finished up a bunch of bases for miniatures this afternoon, I actually finished so many I ran out of scenic tufts. Then I started taking fun group shots. Here’s an orc, goblin and ogre alliance. You can tell I painted all the goblins over several years given their different skin tone choices 😅

Went to the gummy+dungeon synth+miniature zone and I think finished up painting another nude study to practice my skin blending. Tried to do a bright blonde hair but think I fell a little short there.

I don’t know how much longer we can be expected to live alongside the lie that this is not exactly what it looks like: a violent siege, meant to destroy people. The lie makes it even more destructive.

Not sure what to say other than I hope we can hold every last one of these chuds responsible as we move forward to creating a better world

One of my more stick in the mud takes is that if we as a society continue to remake toy commercials from the 1980s, could we at least not make them into terrible live action adaptations and just make new cartoon toy commercials? Animation is a fantastic medium.

It's too damn cold today

Sourced another copy of this miniature I’ve painted before, still have some stuff to smooth out here but I think I nailed the fair skin and red hair, took a gamble trying to add freckles which I think look ok but could be better.

Finished this miniature aside from the base and pretty dang pleased. Tried a new experiment with the blue robe. Turned out a little darker than I intended but it blended together nicely

Recently discovered that my preferred way to paint miniatures is to go from a black primer coat versus a white primer coat and it's been such a revelatory experience. Also, I am so ready to stop work today and just go to the miniature painting room

This is amazing, punchline at the end phenomenal, Tolkien's description of airplanes, amazing, also learning that he was writing his pilot son stuff about how terrible airplanes are is fascinating

lol my new lamp arrived today and good grief does it help me take better photos and know exactly what I’m painting. Also lol, building up from a black primer is so much better for how I like to paint. Also lol started this miniature this evening and almost done?

Playing around with the new camera phone while I wait for a computer upgrade (windows 11, barf). I painted this miniature about ten years ago, wish I could still get it because I would like to paint it again having improved my painting in those ten years!

Paint is still drying and I also am not sure what I want to do for the base but I’m feeling pretty dang good re: this demogorgon (and/or demo Gordon depending on how bad the auto correct is)

Started work on the demo Gordon. Blocked in the initial colors and painted all of the green skin via successive dry brushing layers. Tomorrow night I’ll finish all the main layers, then start building up highlights

It's cool that I get paid even more now but it sucks that I just keep getting more and more work thrust upon me and also my best colleague left and I have to deal with all this work bullshit upon you know, the horrors of everything else. Fucking sucks!

I am once again asking the movie makers making movies about fictional medieval, early medieval, late medieval, etc. to please consider having more color in the costumes.

I finished up six miniatures that I had started in 2025 and now I’m ready to truly begin my 2026 painting journey. I’ve narrowed it down to three lucky contestants for first start to finish miniature of 2026. My options are: 1. Basic D&D cleric; 2. Lady werewolf; 3. Greek-esque warrior type

Started to finally read The Devils by Joey Abs this morning and it fucking rips. But I’m going to try and be smart and not hyper focus and take a break at a certain point so I can do other things 😅

It’s hard to find time to do all the things one wants to do with their free time, but I really want to get back into reading both fiction and non-fiction.

This fucking sucks. My entire existence my country has been invading places to take what they want and leave ruin in their wake.

Going to get one of those "In this house...." signs but it will just list all my preferred fantasy adventure things: 1. Orcs have pig faces; 2. Dragons have four limbs; 3. Vancian magic is good actually; etc.

Unrelated to work (which sucks!) but I'm thinking about fantasy adventure games and stories (as one does) and I am so torn between dragons depicted like Smaug, highly cunning and intelligent and proud and vain, etc. and dragons that are like Vermithrax Pejorative just a terrifying force of nature

Cannot believe I'm working at the moment instead of just hiding in my miniature hobby hole
