Exhausted, but I pushed myself to at least go on a short hike, which turned out to be quite interesting.

That feeling of being excited about something, then suddenly feeling guilty 'cause it’s simply something that brings YOU joy, especially when there're so many more important things going on right now. My messed up mind wouldn’t let me sleep last night so I tried to paint the feeling outta my system.

I headed out for a hike through the forests that stretch around the ranch, to soak up the sun and do a small art photoshoot along the way. Stopping here & there to capture little moments, textures that caught my eye and gather a few new images for my work, take some product photos for my shop.

Spring is on the way. I also finally finished some proper art after almost four months without, aside from a few postcards. I just couldn’t find the time or energy to scan and post anything. It’s been one crash after another from constantly overdoing it.

The temperatures are finally rising.

Woke up to –1°C inside the trailer, which probably means it dropped to around –10°C outside last night. I’m completely wiped out, one flare after another. The cold hits hard, the firewood work drains every last bit of energy and the joint pain is honestly brutal. Not even mentioning my mental state.

Unfortunately, I came back to the harshest side of winter, biting icy winds and snow everywhere since i returned.

@artdisaster.bsky.social and me just watched Birdemic. I have questions. XD It was funny in ways I’m sure weren’t planned and I’ve seen actual birds put together more coherent films, but I loved every second.

People often ask if it’s okay to use my photos as references. Yes, please do! That’s actually one of the reasons why I love doing photography in the first place. I take photos to provide visual references, to share beautiful views, fleeting moments, moods, light and atmosphere.

Three eucalyptus seed pods at different stages: one fresh yellow flower with fine, brush-like stamens, one partly dried flower revealing bright green seed capsules inside and one fully dried, dark brown woody pod split open.

Woody fruit capsules of an eucalyptus tree. After the flowers bloom and dry, they leave behind these cool, hard little cups that look like fancy buttons. The star- or cross-shaped opening on top is where the seeds will spill out.

The aurora went wild over Germany again and of course I wasn’t there. But with those freezing temperatures, I probably wouldn’t have been able to go outside anyway. I really hope my friends got to enjoy the show! I enjoy this view meanwhile.

Back home.

Happy New Year, everyone! Wishing you abundant health for the year ahead because in the end, that and contentment are what matter most. I’ve been spending the past few days with friends and it feels incredibly good and grounding.

Back home, my symptoms flared up immediately because of the cold. The loneliness and the losses this time of year brings hit hard, dragging my mood down to a point I was hoping to never experience again. I really thought I’d manage better this year… but apparently not.

Life will find a way.

Fuerteventura's west coast. No resorts, no polish... just wind, stone and the Atlantic doing whatever it wants. It never rests, the land feels ancient and the wind tells stories. Nothing here tries to impress, it just exists.

Let's see how good my navigation skills are. Today I am trying to cross the island from east to west through the desert.
