nothing really… but someone said I might go to dad’s for christmas, and I don’t want to.. I want to stay with you.

he’s not sure what he wants to do for christmas. maybe — maybe he’s thinking he wants to stay at home with his mum.

( he cuddles up as close as he can, small sniffling sounds giving away his feelings as he presses his face into her shoulder. )

he’s painting a huge picture of a snowman — it’s going to be a Christmas present to aunt Mimi.

( throws his arms around her, hugging tightly. )

thanks… ( still in need of some cheering up, he shuffled out of the room to go and play with his toys — repeating her words silently to try and convince himself they were true. )

okay.. ( he’s not entirely sure if he believes that, but he still holds his hand up and gives her a high five — doing his best to smile. )

his teeth have been brushed, pyjamas put on — and now he’s in bed, being lovingly tucked in by his mother. a goodnight kiss is placed on his forehead, and he turns his nightlight on - settling down to read a book before he sleeps.

( he wants his mother. )

but he always talks to you… and he hasn’t spoken to me in forever. i guess it doesn’t feel like he loves me.

why… why does my dad not want to see me? ( he looks up at her with sad eyes — a part of him doesn’t really want to know the answer, but he couldn’t stop himself asking. )

( he watches her cleaning up the rest of the cereal, and when she’s finished — he reaches out and lightly taps her shoulder — he’s got a question he wants to ask her. )

( he nods his head — not wanting to speak through his mouthful because his mother says it’s impolite. when he’s finished eating, he stands on tiptoes to put his bowl in the sink. ) i’m sorry i made a mess..

( he looks up from his cereal and grins widely as soon as he spots her. ) hi, May! would you like some cheerios?

he’s awake, and wandering down to the kitchen to try and make himself breakfast. within minutes, there’s cheerios and milk all over the counter — and some in his bowl.

fast asleep, tucked up with two or three of his favourite teddies ( he couldn’t choose which one he wanted. )

he’s going to meet santa today — so he can ask for the new bike he wants! he has also done a drawing of the reindeer to give to santa ( and is quite nervous to show it to him. )

the cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows he was given earlier is beginning to take effect… he’s practically bouncing off the walls, and martha is bouncing with him.

he’s been playing with martha and is covered from head to toe in mud — it’s the best! and because he’s not at home, he probably doesn’t even have to have a bath.

“You brought Martha?! Really?? Where is she?” He looked around eagerly for the dog, the fact that she was muddy didn’t seem to bother him at all.

“ I’m all right! But I missed you! You were gone forever… ”
