I've long called for changes to the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme so victims and bereaved families have longer to challenge a sentence. They will now have six months to refer a case where it is in the interests of justice. As Solicitor General, I will always put victims first.

Alana was a mother whose life was cut short in an act of appalling violence by a man with a history of serious violence. I didn’t think his sentence of 42 years was long enough so I referred it to the Court of Appeal.

Powerful interview with Ellen Roome this morning. Ellen has campaigned to hold social media companies to account following the death of her son Jools at just 14. I granted permission for an application for a new inquest into his death so she can get the answers she deserves.

Stalking is a serious crime that devastates lives. Tackling violence against women and girls is my top priority as Solicitor General and I will continue to work with the @CPSUK on implementing their Stalking Action Plan to deliver better support and outcomes for victims.

Under Labour, NHS waiting lists continue to fall. Last year in Lewisham they fell by 11% and at King’s by 6%. Ambulance response times are now the fastest they've been for five years, and A&E waits are the shortest for four years. More to do, but Labour is busy fixing our NHS.
