I recognize I haven’t posted much here and I apologize for that! Some context—I post in the morning before work and that requires me to post the night before and save as a draft. BS doesn’t allow drafts and I rarely have time in the morning to do long threads. I hope to have a solution soon!

Today, 2 February, marks the official first session of the U.S. Supreme Court. While the court was originally meant to convene on 1 February, 1790, only three of the six justices were present, delaying the official opening.

I’m enjoying a long weekend away—the few times I’m not doing anything history related, and I’m going to attempt (key word) to limit myself on social media. So I may not be posting for a few days but I’ll be back next week!

90 years ago, on 11-12 January, 1935, Amelia Earhart became the first person to fly from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland (Oakland, CA)—a flight of 2,408-miles. The flight was 19 hours. Unfortunately, two years later, in 1937, Earhart would make history again for her disappearance over the Pacific.

I’ll be honest the most frustrating thing about blue sky is that you can’t save drafts, which is crucial for me.

She’s done! My M4A3E2 Battle of the Bulge model is completed just in time for my first snow day. I love that I finished this during the 80th anniversary. I did a lot of weathering on this one and finding the balance of the perfect amount of snow was difficult. You can see close ups of my track

My admirer seems to be approving the progress I made today. All that is left is weathering.

I started this model last year but decided that I was going to finish it this winter, the 80th anniversary. Now that the holidays have passed, I can finish it!

Something I heard today: If you consider yourself self-aware but only focus on the things you need to change and not the things you do well—you are not self-aware, you’re just mean to yourself. Excuse me while I go sit with this thought for a while.

80 years ago as the world rang in 1945, no one knew much larger celebrations were to come with VE and VJ Day! A reminder no matter how you ended the previous year, a new year is filled with endless possibilities. My ONLY goal for 2025 is to be 1% better everyday. Happy New Year!

I often wear history shirts to the gym because why not? Today I wore a design I collaborated on honoring the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. I love being a history nerd!

Dec 28, 1944 D + 204 After a tumultuous 12 days, the German offensive through American lines into the Ardennes forest of Belgium and Luxembourg has stopped. The Germans have driven a wedge 50 miles deep and 80 miles wide at its base. A 🧵

I’m kind of surprised I haven’t seen this movie talked about much within the history community, perhaps due to the fact it was released so close to the holidays. It was phenomenal, in my opinion. sticking to the true stories of the women veterans. A good balance between humor and drama.

Posting this a day late but realized that yesterday, 25 December, was 100 years since the Christmas Truce in 1914. The British Imperial War Museum has a good article on this: www.iwm.org.uk/history/the-... The image below is an artist rendition created in 1915.

My family is pretty diverse which I love and this year, Christmas and Hanukkah were extra special. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

Picture it—it’s 22 December 1944 80 years ago Brig. Gen. McAuliffe received an ultimatum from the German forces. McAuliffe responded with: “To the German Commander: N U T S ! The American Commander” This defiant and humorous rejection became a symbol of American resilience.

160 years ago on 21 December 1864, General Sherman delivered his “Christmas Gift” to President Lincoln by capturing Savannah and completing his March to the Sea. On November 15, Sherman took 62,000 men and began their trek to Savannah. The army averaged 15 miles per day,

As history nerds we go through many days with remembrance that the day holds significance in history. Today, 7 December, is one of those days. The quick video below includes interesting photos sent to me and then the audio is of a news broadcast shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

My Thanksgiving consisted of: —Reminding my parents how to use their printer —Watching my dad yell at squirrels eating the bird food several times —Reassuring my mom that I did indeed see my brother’s text messages because I’m on the group chat And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
