January 5, 1975, The Wiz opened at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway for a total of 1,672 performances. It was nominated for 8 Tonys, and won 7. A long-awaited revival is headed to Broadway in March 2024 - would somebody buy me a ticket (and a plane ticket) please!

Born January 4th 1905, Sterling Holloway is a familiar voice to millions of children all over the word. A prolific radio, stage and screen star, appearing in over 100 films and 40 tv shows, he was honoured as a Disney Legend in 1991.

Born 3rd Jan 1909, Victor Borge was a comedian, pianist & superstar of stage, radio & tv. His Broadway show, Comedy in Music, became the longest running one-man show in the history of theatre with 849 performances when it closed on 21 January 1956. Gone, but never forgotten. fb.watch/plir61eISH/

Dec 30th 1948, Kiss Me, Kate starring Alfred Drake & Patricia Morison opened on Broadway. Book by Bella & Samuel Spewack, music & lyrics by Cole Porter. It ran for 1077 performances and won 5 of the very first Tony Awards in 1949.
