In lighter vein (but it's true) if you don't know about Syd Barrett and his work with the band and solo , then you are probably from across the pond and a fan of Gilmour's A Momentary Lapse of Reason ...😜😂

In case you haven't noticed - the album title is in past tense "you were" rather than the present "you are" ... signifying lament (and probably guilt and remorse ) at what had happened in the past with Syd and his decline / departure from the band.

The entire album WYWH is about Syd Barrett - the 💎 referred to in SOYCD , it's his exploitation and alienation thats been mentioned (by Waters) by the greedy music industry & managers -profits over creativity. WYWH is about Syd's brilliance, his alienation and his absence from the industry.

David Gilmour was / is just an average blue based guitarist who tinkered around with some sonic experimentation with his guitar ...the lyrics, vision and concept was always s'body elses , something which all Gilmour solo records have missed all throughout

Who is the 💎 in SOYCD (WYWH) ? 'cos if you don't know this then you really don't know the story of #pinkfloyd and who's band it was at the beginning and who took over the reigns and who's being lamented, but you will always think that it was David Gilmour's band which it wasn't, not even a bit .
