🎉 VICTORY! The Parole Board Modernization Act (SB 43) passed its final vote last night and is on its way to the governor. This is a huge step toward a fairer, more effective parole system. Check out the slides to see why this matters.

This legislation establishes New Mexico’s first statewide regulations for Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) data, ensuring that location information isn't weaponized against residents for seeking legal healthcare, exercising constitutional rights, or for federal immigration enforcement.

Under SB 40, ALPR users in New Mexico may not share data with out-of-state third parties unless they first receive an affirmation that the data will not be used to prosecute healthcare activity that is legal in New Mexico, enforce immigration laws, or target activity protected under the Constitution

Cameras track the movements of every driver in New Mexico, creating a massive, unregulated record of our private lives. When that data is shared with out‑of‑state or federal agencies without guardrails, the risks are enormous.
