what if someone made a game that ends on a really grim note, like the ending just fucking sucks, but not in the "it was terribly written" sort of way but emotionally you feel broken and hollow at the end of the road and you're just sitting there on the end screen like "..." would people hate that

my theory is that sticker star was in some kind of game design hell for so long and they just, wanted to get it out as soon as possible even if it wasn't working, and it's probably why color splash and origami king feel like them trying to make that same design marginally better (to varying results)

don't think I've specifically spoken on this yet but I really like the SEKAI movie and I think it is probably one of the greatest video game adaptations out there like everything from the cinematography, pacing, writing, feels like it perfectly translates SEKAI out of it's visual novel format

a lot of times when I see people try to go to bat for why video games are works of art they direct your attention to games that are probably easily able to be adapted into like, a show or movie but never something like, Mario NES, because I guess not cinematic = not art to many people(?) idk
