15 years ago SCOTUS handed down the devastating Citizens United decision allowing unlimited money in our elections and putting a price tag on our democracy. In ‘22 and ‘24, I was endorsed by End Citizens United. Big money in politics takes away from the voices of voters.

As we take today to celebrate the life of one of our country’s greatest heroes, let us remember always his vision for democracy: inclusion. The more voices at our table, the greater our democracy.

The diversity of our rural and working-class communities is something vastly misunderstood. From Latino ranchers to Native American community organizers to Black farmers and AAPI small-business owners — and many in between — more can be done to listen and give them a voice.

If honored to be a vice-chair of the DNC, I will focus on the under-appreciated diversity of rural and working-class voters. These are the voices I want to bring into the DNC big tent. I’m sick and tired of monopolization and one-party rule in small, rural towns.

As many have noted, I have thrown my hat in the ring for one of the three DNC vice-chair at-large positions. I believe my experience running for Congress in a diverse, rural, working-class district uniquely positions me to help reverse this concerning trend among rural voters.

Dirt roads are the best roads.
