Only played a handful of new games over the festive period but I really enjoyed both Tea Witches and Emberleaf. Very different games, both with nice mechanics, aesthetics and table presence. Recommended. #boardgames

Predator Badlands was a blast. Loved the world building, great action and dark humour. Ella Fanning is incredible. Different vibe to other films in the franchise but that’s a compliment in this case. #movies

Watched Tron: Ares. Enjoyed Tron: Ares. Great soundtrack (tho not as good as Daft Punk), the Grid looked awesome and Greta Lee was ace. I could watch her in anything, she’s tremendous. I seem to remember people hating on Tron: Legacy too (which is also overly maligned imo).

So, the four day extended weekend to celebrate my bday has almost come to an end but it’s been awesome. Dinner and a show, Farcry VR and some lovely gifts from my amazing wife Stef. Feeling very grateful, very lucky.

Watched in completely the wrong order but ‘Wrath of Becky’ was a very entertaining, gory and oddly satisfying movie for a rainy afternoon. Apparently there it’s a trilogy.

Stef bought me Split Fiction for my birthday. Love it. Not saying it’s eclectic but I was just in a cyberpunk dystopia then did a side story where I played as an actual sausage. I kid you not.

We’ve had no broadband for the last week or so and have fallen back on our physical media collection for entertainment in the evening. Rewatched Tron Legacy. What a banger that is. Yes, there’s some dodgy CGI but the design, soundtrack and Jeff Bridges channelling the Dude is awesome.

I adored Flow. It didn’t break my heart, it healed it.

Mutant Genesis for Marvel Champions is great. We took Wolverine and Phoenix. We were kicking ass until this happened…

Very 😡. Stef was misled by a Virgin Media sales rep and mis-sold a ‘slimline’ TV box. Can’t record on it (which doesn’t work for us), though we were told it would. Apparently this is a known problem of Virgin misleading customers. We have cancelled and won’t be using them again.

Oh no, not Zod. 😟 Terrence Stamp was such a legend and gave one of the best ever super villain portrayals in cinema. Go well sir, rest in peace.

Horror fans are dining well this year with awesome films like Sinners and Weapons but spare some time for Heart Eyes. Irreverent, gory fun that shares some DNA with the Scream franchise. Well worth 90 minutes of your attention. #horror

Stef’s away with her sisters at the mo, so I decided to treat myself to a second viewing of Fantastic Four - First Steps at the cinema. Enjoyed it even more second time around. Solo cinema watching for the win! 😗

Saddened to hear off James Tolkan’s passing. I’m sure he was known to most for his roles in Top Gun and Back to the Future but to me he’ll always be Lubic in Masters of the Universe. Rest in peace, fella.

This isn’t really news or anything new. The original X-Men, barring Sir Ian and Sir Patrick, were all relative newcomers and young. I’m all for new talented actors getting an opportunity.
