The story starts out in a city called Teko, inspired by the West Mexican Shaft Tomb cultures, with futurist Guachimontones which have become large civic centers. Also as you can see the comic is b/w though I'd love color I would have to hire a colorist lol.

Fireflies as seen in the Maya vases. Fireflies were associated with the underworld, hence the skeletal faces and their light was drawn coming from the cigars they had. Their wings have the glyph for darkness.

Something I did for fun was combine the three poses of the Maya vase painting into a animated sequence. Knowing how movement is sometimes portrayed in these vases or on murals like at Bonampak, I wondered if the vase might be showing a dance or combat move with three different characters.
