Been swimming today after a 10km walk this morning. Kids are staying with their grandparents so the house is quiet and peaceful. If you want to visit SEQ there's no better month than April.

John Williams is an absolute master of movie soundtracks. Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Harry Potter plus plus plus. He's a gun. instantly recognisable music & themes. But i think the best soundtrack from any film goes to The Last of the Mohicans. It's ace.

I wasn't outside long today but just spending some time out in the garden doing this or that really helps to make me feel better. As much as i love watching sport or movies or playing video games if I spend the whole day inside I get edgy.

When i was a young senior cricketer i was promoted from the 3s to the 2s after a string of ok scores. I opened with a former club coach/captain & he faced the 1st ball. He hit one to cover & called yes. I ran but was run out without facing. I didn't sook. Got dropped next week. Tough game cricket

There's a very strong chance that Domino's Pizza in Beaudesert is about to get a 1 star reviews from a chap who i would guess also now needs to replace his tyres. Bogan central.

Some shows just aren't for me. Sometimes for the sake of watching it with my wife I'll put up with stuff that annoys me and push through. Then there are shows that annoy me so much I just switch off. The new one from Nicole Kidman is firmly in Camp Notforme.

Fuel prices sky high. Electricity at home costing more than ever. Groceries are way more expensive than they were a few years ago. What should we do to curb all this extra spending people are doing? How about we increase the amount of interest they have to pay on their mortgages? That'll help.

Worked hard in the yard yesterday and went for a 14km walk. Today I have done precisely zero other than watch cricket and eat sandwiches.

Trying to find what the best ride on mower to upgrade to is mega painful. Just about every brand and model has a bunch of 4 or 5 star reviews offset by a cavalcade of 1 star reviews. Bah!

Vic 2/93 at lunch on day 2. Some good bowling from SA to start the innings but the runs started to flow in the second half of tbe session. I feel SA still in the better position with 300 on the board as Vic have struggled to chase bigger scores this season. Kellaway 38* McAndrew 1/22 Manenti 1/14

Good solid day of Shield cricket between Vic & SA. Vic as usual took lots of wickets but missing O'Neill meant they weren't able to keep scoring to the usual pace. SA have nearly 300 on the board 9 down. Murphy & Boland took 3 wickets each. Hunt (81) & Manenti (53) SA's best

It must be so nice to be debt free. Super keen to experience having access to all the money we earn rather than sending a substantial portion of it to the bank week in & week out. Then I could buy a better ride on lawn mower, improve the fencing and upgrade the pc. Might even take a holiday. Sigh

You know what's funny? The AFL prioritising non-traditional regions for opening round and then channel 7 putting the Saturday game between Bris and WB on delay into Qld.

From 6 to 4 I have to spend my time at work.

Unbelievable how quickly we can download data these days. Getting 294mbps hardly gives me enough time to make some saladas with cheese before my game is ready to play.

Was having a chat with my brother today and we were discussing his top 10 films. In spite of his real love of comedy (most of the references made in our conversations stem from TV comedy) he didn't squeeze one into his top 10. Bloody hard task choosing that list.

A person I've never spoken to before stopped me on my walk to ask me what happened to my dog and to tell me that I've lost a huge amount of weight. Best interaction with a stranger in years.

I have work in the morning which just feels really unfair. Nothing wrong with the job and my boss is a good dude but I sincerely cannot wait for retirement. Only 20 years to go until I qualify for the pension. Sure it'll just fly by.

How so many people on here have the time and energy to be able to get worked up about and comment on so many different topics will always amaze me. I'm flat out just getting through a regular work day.

I wonder if the British actor Danny Webb has ever played a character that was a nice guy or even somewhat decent.

Lovely day here in SEQ. There's been very little rain here over the last few months so not a lot of gardening needed. Spent the day in and out of the pool & watching the Sheffield Shield. Life is what you make of it and I think it's pretty easy to find the joy. Way too much negativity about.

In fun news, I'm re-watching a A Touch of Frost and it's a lot better than I thought it was all those years ago. Spotting now famous actors in their early roles is always a bit fun too.

Nice bit of bowling from Perry with the new ball has Qld 8/219. 2 balls later and a hot chance is put down by Murphy in the covers. It would have been a great catch. The game is balanced nicely. Qld have a lead of 225 with 2 wickets in hand on a pitch still offering plenty.

Really nice to have Shield cricket back tomorrow. Fingers crossed the VCA boys continue their terrific form from the first half of the series. Harris, Peake, Boland & Sutherland missing will present some decent opportunities.

Really good win today by Vic over Qld. Handscomb and Murphy showed themselves to be a class above to help salvage some respect from what has been a dire ODD season for the Vics up until now. Now watching the Aus U/19 side bowl against England in the World Cup. A much needed wicket has Eng 2/57

Formal dresses for Yr 12 formal events are stupidly expensive. Over $800. 12-14 week lead times. As my Yr7 history teacher remarked on the day that not a single student had completed the homework she had set: "Frankly 7C, I'm staggered."

So keen for cricket that I'm watching the U19 world cup match between Australia and West Indies.

Just saw the stage production of Cluedo. Certainly a fun few hours and I have to say an amazing use of set design to accommodate the different rooms. Kids had a blast with it. My wife gave it an 8 / 10 but said she preferred The Mouse Trap.

New sight on my usual weekend walking path today. A big cow on the road. The dogs in the area were going a bit mental. Had the usual Kangaroos too and thankfully no snakes. I hate snakes.

I think for most people it's preferable to not be told how to eat.

4 day weekend ahead. There should be more of this sort of thing.

Proper headache the last 2 days. Hopefully a good night's sleep tonight will reduce the severity before a short week at work allows some lower stress levels. As stoic as one tries to be there can be a toll that builds up. Been a tough month but hopefully things will ease up now.

The second season of The Night Manager starts pretty strongly however it is missing what Hugh Laurie added to the first season (which i really enjoyed). Will continue to watch for now.

Certainly warmer in Melb for today's visit than the last time I flew down.

Just how badly does a first choice / established player need to play for George to actually drop them?

Aus are 3-0 up but I feel that Eng have really been in all 3 games & managed to shoot themselves in the foot each time. Aus have been relying heavily on Starc, Head, Carey plus cameos. Eng have lost from very winnable spots. The story could be very different if Eng were smarter.
