Ah, so we’re in semi-violent, near-agreement. If I understand correctly. I will say, my kills are mostly through firearms. But the killing comes from training, and a desire for a mix of revenge and satisfaction. One more dead enemy is one less bullet they can throw at me or another helpless civie.

You’re a different case. I’m a soldier in a war against things that could easily remove my head from my shoulders in a single punch, that often outclass me in weight and size, and would happily eat my corpse. The skill issue lies with them. But it is also war, where killing is an everyday action.

Villains that are actively attempting to kill you, yes. Helpless prisoners, not so much. Unless you have nowhere to keep said prisoner… But my context is likely much different than yours.

For those of us with prosthetics, if you get your fake hand melted off by plasma, your enemy has given you a hot spike of metal to use with impunity.
