I'm listening to the short story (novlette?) Sea of Dreams by Cixin Liu and the entire time he's describing how beautiful and awe-inspiring all of Earth's water is floating around the planet as ice sculptures, I just keep thinking "Kim, there's people that are dying".

Daily female #Transformers! Nightra! She's not big into following rules and conventions. She has only appeared in the 2015 Robots In Disguise cartoon. It's too bad that she hasn't gotten to play opposite of Strongarm more often.

The main problem I find with Transformers stories that try to center themes of classism and/or discrimination with Megatron as the revolutionary is that Megatron is always a huge xenophobe who thinks other species are beneath him because they're not 30ft war machines and writers don't examine it.

Daily female #Transformers! Minerva! She's far more dedicated to healing on the battlefield than fighting. She was introduced as a human in Super God Masterforce, but has had multiple appearances as a Cybertronian. It's a huge shame she doesn't appear more often!

It's always so curious to see folks justify breeding their female dogs not because they want for breed preservation or anything... But because they want the dog to experience motherhood. Like, my dog would be a TERRIBLE mother and probably growl at her puppies a lot. She doesn't like puppy behavior.

Daily female #Transformers! Cogwheel! She's a skilled medic and surgeon who Ratchet trusts. She only appears in the Covenant of Primus story. Another bot I'd love to see a design for since she's described as an Arachnicon. [No image]

The TFA crew calling Rattletrap an "homage" to Rattrap has always confused me because Rattletrap is completely antithetical to everything about Rattrap (besides an association with garbage) with absolutely no redeeming qualities. Rattrap is at least witty, loyal, and has a strong sense of justice.

Daily female #Transformers! Cliffjumper! She enjoys reading and studying more than fighting. She appears in the Armada comics and a toy pack-in comic. Now this is a bot I would have gravitated to as a child!

Daily female #Transformers! Botanicus! She is a resistance fighter. She pops up in the 2021 IDW Beast Wars comics. Considering she might be part of a fictional story, I'd love to see more about the kinds of stories Cybertronians tell each other.

A frustrating little thing about liking female Transformers characters is that there are so many times when someone is like "Ravage is a girl in my AU" and I just wanna shove Howlback at them. Female cat cassettebot right there! Plus she's trans! Heck, have both of them be girls! Just include girls!

‪I always wonder what the depth of comparison is for people who complain that Energon Universe is edgy. I'm not going to say that I'm the most well-read comic connoisseur, but I like Sabretooth and DC's Lobo. Plus the 90s Rob Liefeld era and the weird 00s. Also, the IDW Wreckers saga exists.

Daily female #Transformers! Aurora Speeder! She's a talented artist, but her medium is war. She was created for Transformers Online and has been mentioned in an Ask Vector Prime segment. I wonder what her weapon is. It looks like an archery bow.

Daily female #Transformers! Airazor! She's an intelligent and capable scout with a sense of humor. She was introduced in Beast Wars and has had multiple appearances since. I think she's the first design that doesn't prioritize emphasizing this is a female character.

I finished a short story collection about the Clone Wars series. Rather than making me watch to watch Clone Wars... I'm itching to play Knights of the Old Republic II again.

Honestly, the only thing the Headmasters anime has over Super God Masterforce or Victory is that Headmasters has familiar characters. I personally think the quality of writing is quite a bit lower than the other two and the characters are generally much dumber. Plus Fortress is basically useless.

Daily female #Transformers! Editor! They own a renowned news outlet and cleans up their employees' work. They only appear in Transtech. Editor is canonically genderfluid which is quite neat! The color coding is a little silly, but fine.

Daily female #Transformers! Fracture! She's loyal Decepticon who enjoys the bloodlust in battle. Except for a mention in Ask Vector Prime, she only appears in movie related comics. Though she's meant to be copyright dodging version of Crasher, I think there's space for Fracture to stand on her own.

Daily female #Transformers! Scorchfire! She helps her friend Windblade out. She is a toy only character from the Titans Return line. Man, I really really want to see more of these Targetmaster type characters and the partnerships they can have with other bots.

I've read 18 chapters of the webcomic Phantom 2040: A New Shadow. As someone who remembers watching the Phantom 2040 cartoon from '96... I don't know why this story is connected to that world at all. First problem: it ignores the continuity reason behind The Ghost Who Walks.

A #fanart I did for a #Transformers femslash week back in February of Megaempress and Flowspade. (Megaempress's deal in the comics is possibly the biggest example of "comp het" I've seen in TF. Sorry, but I do not believe she's straight after seeing her cradle Flowspade in their captivity.)

I decided for Beast Wars' 30th anniversary, I'm going to embroider as many keychans of the cast as I can by Sept 16th (and today for its first preview). I've finished Optimus Primal, Dinobot, and Rattrap. (I need to redo Megatron.) I really like them all.

So I read the Superman and Spider-man crossover. The first story with them teaming up against Doc Ock and Brainiac was my favorite. The ones I actively liked the least were MJ & Lois (they just talk about their bfs) and Jimmy & Carnage (tonally dissonant from the others and I found it unpleasant).

It's funny how folks kept pointing at Kirkman writing Invincible and the Walking Dead as evidence that Energon Universe Transformers being "edgy" when he wasn't even writing TF for the first two years of the run and the series he did start has mostly been pretty clean.

#Reading hot take: discourse about the 100 books in a year goal is more annoying than people setting it for themselves. People making you feel bad for not reading 100 books in a year? Don't talk to them. If you think no one could POSSIBLY read 100 in a year and have other hobbies? Get over yourself.

"All breeds used to be mutts!" But Flat-Coated Retrievers mixed with Water Spaniels, Red Setters, and Labradors makes sense and makes a good hunting dog (Golden Retriever). A Berner-Aussie-Poo is an identity crisis between farm work, herding, and hunting, lives in a suburb and doesn't do any of it.

The thing about claiming "Dinotrap" is a canon ship and you're not a ~real~ fan if you don't see it is that Dinobot has homoerotic tension with three different characters in Beast Wars: Megatron, Optimus Primal, and Rattrap.

Daily female #Transformers! Heavywait! She's an arm dealer who, though loyal, doesn't let it override her sense. She was introduced in the 2005 IDW run and pops up in the Transformers TTRPG, but appears the most in the 2019 IDW run. The stripes make an interesting design choice for an arms dealer.
