Little about James Roberts' Lost Light series is more unserious than the double endings. We have the one where Megatron rightfully goes to jail, but ah! Look how remorseful he looks! But oh! Ratchet is dead! Rewind is forever stuck in alt mode! The ship is destroyed! How sad! (Obvious bad ending.)

Tbh, Mesothulas stans ruined the Wreckers saga for me. So much time had passed since I read LSOTW (because of how violent and grim it was) that I had gotten to see how delusional some of his fans were about him (Earthspark, case in point). Once I got to the next part, I kept getting annoyed.

Putting images of Blackarachnia and Cyberworld Airachnid next to each other is... interesting. Like, I know Airachnid was originally inspired by Blackarachnia, but her designs were always very distinct from her, so it's weird to see someone make them redecos.

It's amazing how much of IDW Chromedome's problems are self-inflicted. He knew at least some of the dangers of being a mnemnosurgeon before becoming one (and could just leave at any time?) and he knew Rewind was searching for his possibly dead conjunx when they met. He didn't HAVE to get involved.

A way to illustrate the writing level gap between Beast Wars and Beast Machines is to look Rattrap's relationship with Dinobot vs his relationship with Botanica. In BW, we see Dinobot and Rattrap really grow to respect and like each other. Makes sense Rattrap is the one holding his hand as he dies.

One of my hot #Transformers takes is that humans are more often decently written than they're not. They're just an easy target when a story isn't good. Like, Prime Wars, Beast Machines, and the WFC trilogy aren't very good, but have no humans. Cyberverse has an onscreen human for 1 second and eeeh.

When summer comes and people start giving advice on how to help your dog through the summer, a lot of folks forget that sidewalks take a while to absorb heat and then release. In most places, the sidewalk won't actually start releasing heat and get too hot until ~1-2pm.

It's weird when people say that Beast Wars Megatron respected the original because his dialog doesn't actually back that up. He's going through the Ark and calls the original Transformers "archaic Energon guzzlers" and at one point says "unwilling though I was to follow my namesake's instructions".

If it's any indication how the writing in Beast Machines compares to Beast Wars, in BW, Megatron creates a Transmetal clone by melding Cybertronian and Vok technology yet, in BM, Megatron can't even figure out how to change his alt mode--and, unlike the others, Megatron doesn't have plot amnesia.

Kinda wild how many writers seem to resent that Rattrap was the most valuable and versatile Maximal in Beast Wars, considering how many of them nerf/butcher him in other continuities.

It's curious to me that Lost Light tried to give Fortress Maximus this lesson of "most Decepticons aren't evil actually" when the Scavengers are the only vaguely decent ones he's met since coming out of his coma? Drift has done terrible things and Megatron is the reason Tarn and Overlord happened.

I started watching Beast Wars Neo. It's fine. Very obviously for the 4-9 age group, but that's not a flaw. I am weirded out by Transformers with hair. It was weird when Beast Machines did it with Blackarachnia and it's still weird here. I am hoping Big Convoy or Magmatron get more interesting tho.

Daily female #Transformers! Arcee! She is a warrior who cares deeply for her friends. As the first created female Transformer, it'd be easier to count what she hasn't been present or acknowledged in. She helped paved the way for every female Transformer that came after her and I appreciate that.

On today's walk, we came across some ladies eating lunch with their young children (around 18mo to 3y) and could just hear my dog's thoughts: "Mother! Let me say hi to the children! They surely have food on their face and hands! They surely have dropped food! Mother, I am very nice to children!"

She appears in the 2019 IDW series and the Transformers TTRPG. It's fascinating how much of an impact she had on the 2019 narrative beyond herself.

I'm listening to the short story (novlette?) Sea of Dreams by Cixin Liu and the entire time he's describing how beautiful and awe-inspiring all of Earth's water is floating around the planet as ice sculptures, I just keep thinking "Kim, there's people that are dying".

Daily female #Transformers! Nightra! She's not big into following rules and conventions. She has only appeared in the 2015 Robots In Disguise cartoon. It's too bad that she hasn't gotten to play opposite of Strongarm more often.

The main problem I find with Transformers stories that try to center themes of classism and/or discrimination with Megatron as the revolutionary is that Megatron is always a huge xenophobe who thinks other species are beneath him because they're not 30ft war machines and writers don't examine it.

Daily female #Transformers! Minerva! She's far more dedicated to healing on the battlefield than fighting. She was introduced as a human in Super God Masterforce, but has had multiple appearances as a Cybertronian. It's a huge shame she doesn't appear more often!

It's always so curious to see folks justify breeding their female dogs not because they want for breed preservation or anything... But because they want the dog to experience motherhood. Like, my dog would be a TERRIBLE mother and probably growl at her puppies a lot. She doesn't like puppy behavior.

Daily female #Transformers! Cogwheel! She's a skilled medic and surgeon who Ratchet trusts. She only appears in the Covenant of Primus story. Another bot I'd love to see a design for since she's described as an Arachnicon. [No image]

The TFA crew calling Rattletrap an "homage" to Rattrap has always confused me because Rattletrap is completely antithetical to everything about Rattrap (besides an association with garbage) with absolutely no redeeming qualities. Rattrap is at least witty, loyal, and has a strong sense of justice.

Daily female #Transformers! Cliffjumper! She enjoys reading and studying more than fighting. She appears in the Armada comics and a toy pack-in comic. Now this is a bot I would have gravitated to as a child!

Daily female #Transformers! Botanicus! She is a resistance fighter. She pops up in the 2021 IDW Beast Wars comics. Considering she might be part of a fictional story, I'd love to see more about the kinds of stories Cybertronians tell each other.
