UK parliament votes FOR the principle of assisted dying for the terminally ill. 330 in favour 275 against Keir Starmer thought to have voted in favour.

Whatever you think of this issue, the quality of debate has, so far, been high. Heartbreaking stories, but also difficult ethical issues and the rights of vulnerable people. Dozens of MPs have not yet said how they would vote and may well make the final call after listening to these speeches.

Debate on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill has opened - a momentous decision for MPs. A "reasoned amendment" by MPs hoping to stop the bill arguing it has not had enough scrutiny has failed. Kim Leadbeater MP is making the case for the bill, saying it is "long overdue".

Kemi Badenoch says her immigration policy is a “numerical target” but won’t say what it would be, or if it would be “tens of thousands” as previous Tory leaders promised.

Lots of angry farmers outside Downing Street today. The prime minister’s spokesman told me they are not changing the inheritance tax policy or the threshold although they understand the “strength of feeling”. They insist only 500 claims a year will be affected - although farmers disagree.
