I’m seeing a lot of people starting to query so here’s my unsolicited advice: write down what you love about your book. little things, big things, it doesn’t matter. write them down and hold them close because the trenches have a funny way of making you forget them

starting a first draft and loving these characters and all the scenes you’re excited to write yet being sad that one day you’ll be tired of them and rereading the same thing over and over is such a unique writer emotional rollercoaster

what I expected: cozy fantasy, maybe a zombie apocalypse, regular found family what I got: funerals every other chapter that made me cry, there’s no apocalypse- only zombies, the found family also has refinding your blood family after a tragedy

my cat has started slamming her full body into the back of my laptop screen to close it whenever she wants attention and honestly, I respect the dedication cause she’s so small it takes her a couple tries to get it done

having to shelve a book sucks but that feeling of reading it after some time has passed and you haven’t edited it or sent a query for it or reread it 1000x in a row and being able to enjoy the story and characters without wondering if it’s good enough is truly magical
