Yesterday, the Veterans Charity attended a Reserves Centre in Plymouth to listen to Dr Bruce Tocher present on the Op Freshman raid. As the Freshman wreath is on its way to Norway 🇳🇴 we took the VE Day wreath to explain our work with the Routes of Remembrance.

85 years ago today the first patients arrived at the old Pembury Hospital from the beaches of Dunkirk. By the end of the evacuation, the hospital had cared for 300 soldiers. In a take on Churchill's famous speech, Medical Superintendent, Dr Grasby described it as “Pembury Hospital's finest hour.”

#VeteransMonth 2025 has marched forth earlier today. It is a social media initiative to celebrate the UK veterans 🇬🇧 community by The Veterans Charity.

It was #OTD in 2011, L Cpl Liam Tasker was on patrol with his dog, Theo They were engaged by small arms fire, during which L Cpl Tasker was struck & died from the injuries he sustained. Sadly, on returning to Camp Bastion, MWD Theo suffered a seizure and died. Image shows them on patrol.
