Remembering fun!

This poor kitten knew what love was. She's 5, MAYBE 6 months old. Smaller than Nebula. She started purring the instant I touched her and even initiated touch a couple times. Lots of rolling around. She's coming out from hiding places while I'm in here now. Still very nervous but won't stop purring.

First full day here and she's already showing me her tummy yeah she'll be just fine

New foster is unbelievably terrified. I was told she was living in a cage due to a lack of space. But I was just petting her a bit and got her to purr. She'll be fine. :)

New foster is not thrilled.

As of today, both of my foster cats have been adopted. Binna went instantly and someone is coming from almost an hour away to adopt Nani today. I'm so happy for them.

The girls are doing alright today. The newly renamed Chai Latte was in rough shape yesterday and still isn't 100%, but that's normal. Today she doesn't hate my guts and wants to be in my lap more. They're both resting a lot.

I'm keeping the girls probably just through the weekend so I can watch their recovery and prepare to say goodbye. I'm going to get some nice photos of them for online posting, and then they'll go to the store to be adoptable. I've had them for MONTHS so this is a little wild.

Piss soaked, stumbly, and miserable, but the girls are home! They have new names now in a decision I made to separate them more from their old owner, in case she keeps trying to get them back.

I was away for the weekend so this is the best picture I could get of the very excited to see me sisters. They're doing very well! They have an appointment to be spayed and vetted at the end of December. Finally!

Nani and Binna are now in the same room with no dividers. They aren't friends, but they're not acting aggressively toward each other at all! They just hiss when they get in each others' face by accident with no further fanfare lol.

Now dealing with this poor neglected thing lol

Good news all around. I divided the room so the two can't even fight through a fence unless they go totally apeshit, and they're both in the same room seemingly relaxing. There's still a bit of grumbles when they get near, and poor Binna tries to follow me out the door 😭

Had a preliminary reintroduction with Nani and Binna. There were a couple hisses, and growls from Binna because she's growly, but they eventually sorta lost interest in each other. Lots of fences between them but they could see and smell each other.

Nani is such a sweet, snuggly, beautiful girl. Her and her sister are doing well and nobody has any health issues anymore, so I'm going to start trying to reintroduce them this week...

exclusive video of Binna licking the faucet after throwing up for a couple days, not eating for several, then suddenly snapping back to normal while ignoring her very nice bowl of fresh water on the floor. I filled the sink for her and she's drinking. Whatever works 🤦‍♀️

Binna has also been kind of permanently given the name "Beans". Her name is pronounced "beena", so I started calling her "auntie beans", and now just. Beans. Lmao. Nani is like the character from Lilo & Stitch but I'm also calling her Nanners like banana.

We had a slight issue with Nani where she wasn't eating for some time after being dewormed. Seems to happen to all cats in my care lol. I don't think she had parasites but it's better to be safe than sorry since the kittens had fleas. (Cats can get parasites from fleas!)

A good view of how skinny Nani is. She's young I think too, but no cat should be this skinny. Sometimes it's tough when they don't look like they're on an animal rescue tv show, but still clearly need help. She just needs groceries.

I'm happy to report to all 3 people following this account that all except one of my kittens were adopted today. They're a bit young but totally weaned, so Terri said she'd let them go in pairs. 4 of them went. Each in pairs. 😭 I'm so overwhelmed.

We'll see what happens with the adults. I hate to see them separated from the woman who loves them. But like, damn, I keep re-reading these texts. Like...

All of these behaviors point to my hypothesis - that these SEVEN cats were all kept in small quarters, with no space to get away from each other, and they were not fed enough. They've been with the former owner's mother for I don't know how long so really she's responsible

Mama Nani again for reference. In the past couple days she went from literally attacking her kittens to suddenly not minding them. And then grooming them. Today she was mingling with them and didn't react when they were body slamming her. I'm seriously shocked.

Here is a somewhat normal picture of Binna. She lives in my bathroom that's attached to my bedroom so that's why there's the most pictures of her. Lol. Also her sister was still being very fractious so I gave her extra time.

I had an "I look terrible in that picture" moment and deleted it but no. Who cares. The kitty deserves to be posted.

Binna has become an extremely sweet girl to an annoying degree. You love to see it!

Very suddenly the kittens are going to an adoption event tomorrow. They're too young to go home, but people can put money down and reserve them :) It's a planned kitten adoption event but uh, they nearly ran out of kittens so I received a panicked phone call tonight 🤣

The babies had some fleas. Just a couple each, but I'm nipping this in the bud. No biggie. Baths for everyone! I didn't see any on the adults but they can get medicated eventually.

Binna was just snuggling with me and purring. She meowed normally. These are all firsts. I'm concerned about how scabby she is on the back of her neck, but she doesn't actually seem genuinely itchy. I really wonder if she just overgrooms from stress and it causes more irritation.

She's got a safe place. I'll let her be. You can see how short her hair is on the backs of her legs from over grooming. Poor thing must feel terrible in every way.

So far my biggest issue besides trying to move a cat in velociraptor mode is just. Deckerd. As usual in my life. He is extremely social and friendly with other cats. Which is a very unusual cat trait. He wants to meet everyone, immediately, and be besties. 99% of cats do not want this.

My bathroom has some fancy decorations in it bc it's the first fancy thing I've ever had in my house so. They went away for now. Binna doesn't seem jumpy or destructive but she's an adult cat and can reach things nebula can't lol

Looks like mama Nani is much sweeter almost instantly. She's grumpy about her babies but with Binna in another room suddenly she's PURRING and rubbing on me!

Binna just rubbed against me while hissing at me lmao. I wonder if part of her bad attitude is just her skin feeling awful.

Just taking it day by day with these guys. The kittens are all in great shape. 2 are kinda shy but they're all Extremely playful, sweet, and healthy. I'm not too worried about the adults. They just need time and a not fucking chaotic environment.

Speaking of thin. Nani, the mom, is very underweight. She absolutely hates her kittens and I really wonder if she's just fucking starving. she's not emaciated but her waist is sunken in. Hard to see bc of her color but. Yeah. It's concerning.

So this is Binna, the "auntie" cat. I've honestly never met a more stressed non-feral cat in my life. She hasn't eaten since Saturday and has been so miserable. Tonight, after a bit of a fight and trying not to get myself clawed and bitten, I moved her to my bathroom. She instantly changed.

Everyone finally came out of hiding. Black one is the smallest and shyest.

I showed these two this box and they didn't move the whole time I napped. I hope they can all feel safe here and get the healing they deserve.

My first foster experience this year was a litter of 4 extremely malnourished kittens. None of them made it. Then I got 4 kittens that all did fine (after Nebula's hiccup). Now I have this unfortunate, broken family. It's always different.

Today, seven cats were taken into my foster care less than 24 hours after being made aware of them. There was a Reddit post for free kittens - 5 of them. After it was brought to my attention I got in contact with the OP and learned the sad situation.

This is Nebula. She's my first foster fail in 2 decades of actively working in animal rescue. She tried to die on me and I told her if she made it, she'd never leave. So here she is. Her legal name is Nebula but she more often hears things like Nebby or Schnebbers.
