A gentle hand caresses her back, they frown at the sight of her tears. “What happened, baby?” They sit down by her, brushing some hair away from her face. “Whose kneecaps am I breaking today?”

She chuckles softly as Margot presses kisses to her face, it works to make her a bit less upset. “Thank you…” She nuzzles her neck and smiles. “I don’t… like to seem weak but… it’s not so bad with you.” she says against her neck, and Margot can feel she’s smiling.

Ran sighs, nodding and sniffling as she wipes her eyes. “I just… I guess you could say I’m a bit of a control freak and things that I can’t control kind of… scare me.” She shrugs before offering her a small smile. “Just… knowing you were here and that you’ll stay makes me feel better…”

“I’m sorry…” She says, her stump hidden from sight. “I don’t know why this happens, I wish it would stop, and I hate how helpless I get when it happens and… I make people worried and scared…” She sighs. She looks down, eyes watery. She hated feeling helpless.

She nods with a small smile but one can see anxiety clawing at her, her organic hand twitches a bit and her eyes find the floor. “Alright..” She scoots over to give her space.

“I still want to do something nice for you.” she says with a smile and cups her cheek. “You look tired, love, and even if you’re used to, doesn’t mean you have to, come lie down with me… Please?” She tilts her head with a smile. She just hoped she hadn’t scared Margot off with her episode.

She smiles weakly. “My, and how may I repay you for taking such good care of me?” She smirks and leans in. “At least I got to spend time with my favorite girl…” She takes her chin and pecks her lips with a smile. “Wanna catch some sleep? I can hold you…” she thinks Margot must be tired.

Ran slept for a few hours, the pills helping. She woke up a bit groggy but painless. “Hey…” She whispers, offering her a loopy smile, sitting up with some difficulty, swaying from the lightheadedness. “Hmm I’m sorry you had to see that…” She murmurs.

She nods almost mechanically, bangs gluing to her forehead fork he cold sweat she was in earlier. She lies down against the pillows on the couch slowly, stump still submerged in nearly scalding water but she seems numb to that now, eyes fluttering closed.

“Stay… with me?” She looks at Margot, eyes hazy from the pain but holding a vulnerability she’s never seen before. “Please…?” She leans into her touch, the meds start to kick in shortly and she seems sleepy now, relaxed.

Ran nods, popping two pills of each in her mouth before swallowing dry. She looks at her hand, skin red and angry but her phantom pains are subdued now. She knows she won’t wear her hand for a while. She sways weakly, the initial adrenaline rush seeming to be wearing off.

Ran doesn’t care, they stick their stump in, the water immediately making their skin redden but instead of yelping in pain they breathe a sigh of relief, phantom pains forgotten in favor of burning pains, she releases a breath. “Medicine cabinet, there’s painkillers and sleeping pills…” She whispers

Ran can feel herself close to dissociating from the pain but she knows she has to keep herself centered. “W-Warm…” she nods, words still hard as she blinks the haziness off of her eyes. “Please…”

Ran could barely speak, she shook like a leaf as she held her arm close to her chest. “H-hand… hurts… but… it’s not here…” she looks at her stump, whole body shaking with sobs. “It won’t stop…” She whimpers, curling into a ball as she trembles.

She’s curled to the couch, bionic hand on the nearby table as she holds her stump close to her chest, groaning and sobbing. Phantom pains.

Ran smiles at the sight, watching her go. “Take as long as you need, I’ll heat up the stew.” she says as she walks to the kitchen.

“You deserve it.” She smiles at the peck and kisses back, kissing her nose shortly after before watching her go. Ran prepares a stew while she waits for the water to warm, it’s an old building with even older pipes so the heating system takes its sweet time. “Baby? Your bath is ready…”

Ran walks with her, pressing a kiss to her temple. She passes by a store to get some smelling salts of Margot’s preference before they got home. “Want to take a little nap while I prepare you some dinner and your bath?” She asks, kissing her forehead.

She smiles, nodding and pressing s kiss to her temple. “I’ll be right with you. Promise” Around 10 minutes later, she meets Margot with a smile. “I have the day off tomorrow, Sevika grumbled a yes and told me to piss off, she’s in good spirits today.” She grins as she wraps an arm around her waist

“I want to, I’d love to take care of you, besides I could use a damn break from this place, you have any idea how many times my ass was slapped or pinched today?” She smiles, trying to lighten the mood. “I’d rather have you slapping it than a random, crusty ass man…” She winks.

Ran watched as she drank, continuing their caress. “Do you have to work tomorrow? Today was hard on you, can’t pour from an empty cup, babe…” She murmurs. “I can talk to Sevika, have a lazy day with you…” She suggests.

“I can set up my bath? It’s seen better days but it helped me relax from phantom pains… we can get some smelling salts on our way home…” She suggests, ordering her drink and brushing her organic hair through Margot’s hair.

Ran hums sympathetically as she rubs her back. “What are you having, dear?” She asks softly before calling the bartender over. “On me, and then we’re getting you home and I’ll rub your feet if you want…”

Ran sees her and waves with a smile, shifting to accommodate her against herself as she sits on a stool at the bar. “Hey you…” She smiles

“Okay, good day at work…” She says, watching her leave with a smile before hurriedly clasping her knife belt around her torso and speeding off to work. She waits for Margot as the day comes to an end and the bar becomes less and less crowded.

Ran wakes up with a scare as Margot jumped off the bed. “What’s wrong?!” She asks, worried as she looks around, her eyes landing on the clock on her bedside. “Oh shit!” She gathers her ow clothes too. “Sevika’s gonna have my ass…”

Feeling Margot sag under herself was enough to send Ran back to dreamland in no time. Not long after they fell back asleep, Ran twitches weakly, frowning as she mumbles in Ionian while she sleeps.

Ran smiles, nuzzling her temple. “Mmmm agreed, it’s warm…” She murmurs against her skin, Ran’s smell was citric, tangy like oranges with a hint of vanilla. She caresses her side, kneading soft flesh. “You have some time? I could go for s small nap…” She could feel her own eyes drooping again.

“S’okay…” she mumbles with a loopy smile, nuzzling her as she stretches languidly, arm wrapping around her to bring her é n closer so she could press a gentle kiss to her forehead. “How did you sleep?” She asks, kisses traveling from her forehead to her temple.

By the time Margot woke up, Ran had been on her way to dreamland, yet her gentle groan pulled her back, making her eyes flutter open, hazy with sleep as she smacks her lips, waking up like a child, taking in her surroundings lazily. “Mmm morning…” she whispers, voice thick and rough with sleep.

She doesn’t dare to wake her even if she finds the snoring amusing. She nuzzles her hair, inhaling the scent of her shampoo and closing her eyes. This is peace. Her own eyes start to droop as she remains with her nose buried into Margot’s hair.

She’s awake, humming quietly as her organic finger traces her curves gently, not wanting to wake her up. She has a serene smile in her face as she watches the other sleep.
