1/3 Had high hopes for “Death by Lightning,” the new Netflix miniseries based on Candice Millard’s fantastic book about the Garfield presidency and assassination but found it disappointing. Dialogue often seemed anachronistic - lots of f-bombs and use of modern phrases like “the big leagues”

Underrated gem in Redford filmography: “Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here” from 1969. Smart Western noir from Abraham Polonksy, who had been blackballed as a result of the Red Scare. Robert Blake plays the title character, all hormones and youthful defiance. Great shootout scene at the end.
