I learned to sew on a 1910s treadle machine on my great grandmother's farmhouse porch after heat exhaustion excused me from the hot southern Virginia sun. I was a curious and easily bored North Jersey girl of 10. Granny's life was the farm, and she had to occupy me somehow... #sewing #quilting
