TIL: The <dialog> element uses the HTML5 "top layer" and sits above all z-index issues. Just spent an hour trying to work out why the recaptcha challenge for my modal form was appearing behind the modal 😒

It really baffles me why companies choose December to do all the "wrapped" stats and why they don't do it in January for the year before

Cheddar cheese and branston pickle is the ultimate starter pack for a crisp-enhanced sandwich. No other filling comes close to complimenting crisps. Especially pickled onion monster munch.

I feel like I need a third monitor now to be my "AI" window. So often I have Claude Code running and forget to check it - leave it for an hour and it's just sitting there on "can I move this file?"

Trying to have a proper crack at configuring Mega Linter (
megalinter.io/latest/
) It's potential is incredible, but trying to migrate existing linting config and set it up is mind bending. If anyone has any example config or tips, they would be appreciated!

If you're using Hetzner: I just saved over €10 a month (doesn't seem a lot but that's 25% of our bill) and increased resources of our VMs by rescaling them onto the new pricing. Worth a look!

Someone I know has had their wordpress website hacked but it only manifested itself if you come from a search engine. Explained to Claude Code (with Playwright MCP) the symptoms and within minutes it had identified the questionable requests and scripts along with an explanation as to what and why.

Did I purposefully add 10 minutes to my workout this morning so I could listen to Taylor Swift's new album in full? Yes. Yes I did.

I've just got a MacBook M4 Pro and am looking for a single cable docking station for my 2 screens. I have HDMI on one and HDMI/DisplayPort/USB C (with DP Alt) on the other. Needs to also work with a Windows laptop. Does anything exist?

So, shamefully, I've been "vibe coding" recently. Not so much at work but more for evening side-projects - being able to set something whirring while washing up is potentially a game-changer. I've een trying Gemini CLI and Claude Code and both are quite impressive. Any others people are using?

If there was one thing I could change about how the internet, it would be that domains names go the other way (e.g.
uk.co.bbc
.www) That way it would make sense when listed alphabetically!

I've got a new computer for work and have been setting up the basic apps. What struck me was not once did I open the app store. All the apps I installed had a direct download link (some also had App Store ones too). Is there a general movement to boycott the App store?

With the drop in price of the premium tier, I'm trying to decide if Gitlab premium is worth it. Is $900 less (for a year) as it stands which is pretty chunky. Anyone upgraded/running premium? Any unexpected killer features?

Today's annoyance is cyclists that are slower than you but then refuse to follow the rules of the road like stopping at red lights, so they sail past dodging pedestrians while you're waiting.

, can I get the numbered index of an item in reference to a specific collection. E.g. if I had blog posts with category listing pages. Looping through the posts I can use the loop index, but it might be on a category page its post 2,6 and 7. Is that data available?

I'm still looking for a general "web development" podcast. One that talks about new CSS or browser features, touches on PHP and JavaScript and Docker and AWS. Doesn't need to be evergreen, just "what's caught our attention". Anyone know of one? If not, do I need to start one 🤔?

I've come to realise I am on a fate-based diet. If I'm walking up/past a shop that sells something particularly tasty that I might fancy, I'll avoid buying it if the queue is too long or the shop is shut. I won't go elsewhere. I walked out of a bakery the other day because of a large group

I'm still in awe of the internet. Yesterday, within the space of two hours, I'd spoken to colleagues in Portugal and a remote island in Scotland (with 800 Mbps internet) and then hopped on a call with
@nickyt.online
who was in Montreal. All from my home on the south coast of England. Incredible.

Business idea: A global convention for board games box sizes. Work out what the smallest/most efficient standardised box a game can fit in and sell the empty box. Boxes are half/double width/height of other boxes to allow easy stacking & organisation.

I'm really struggling with Gitlab CI at the moment. Feels like I'm getting errors daily. We have multiple projects with multiple jobs and pipelines and it feels like it rinses any space available on the server you give it. I'm scared to go to something like AWS as it will probably just burn cash.
