Operation Clean Out continues. Finally laying this messenger bag to rest after 21 years. Met a fresh faced Reggie Fils Aime who MCd the event and talked to a programmer to figure out how to make dynamic ambient tracks. The DS was a fun piece of tech to work on

Reorganizing/de-hoarding my cables for the first time in probably a decade. The number of midi cables and speaker wire I have is a bit insane. I haven't even got to the micro USBs or HDMI yet.

Cleaning up old files and found this one of the gloves I made for the nail layer of the wolf footsteps for Ghost of Yotei. I found a place in Nebraska that sold the nails (gulp) and stitched them into a couple gloves. Pretty sure

recorded some stuff with them too.

I didn't know if it's just a Seattle thing, but I still can't get used to bands starting on time at shows here. Show started at 8. Opening band started at 7:58. Headliner started at 8:58. They played two encores and show was over before 11. The aging punk in me appreciates this

I like to think that as humans we're all fundamentally the same, but there are always minor cultural differences. A core example of this is that Americans take shits, while British people do poos. Stick around for more high brow observations!

Not to date myself, but more to appreciate the speed of technology: I remember when CD Architect was such a big deal to be able to build your own redbook CDs. Seeing the "Burn Audio CD" option in Sound Forge today and I just laughed out loud

Just saw the Brian Eno doc, aptly titled Eno. It's generative, so every screening is different, but the narrative through line is preserved. Such an incredible document of an influential artist-person's philosophy, humanity, and humor.

Been reading Sing Like Fish by Amorina Kingdon. Super fascinating so far. If you understand how sound works in air, it'll educate you better on how it works in water. Makes me want to work on a game that takes place in both so I can build a custom underwater distance model. 🌊 🎤

Watched the Werner Herzog doc Radical Dreamer. There's a scene where he's mentoring young directors and says, "it's not because I'm better, but I've made enough mistakes I can help them prevent making." This nails it. I've learned so much from people I mentored & just want to make their path easier

Finished Disclaimer* the other night, and while it was unnerving at times, I did appreciate some of the unique mix choices Alfonso Cuarón and his team made, like having all of the narrative exposition only come out of the rear speakers. It really emphasized a sense of disassociation

This is the Dream Phone, an art piece I built for a show in Dunsmiur, CA next month. People called in their dreams and I transferred them to a sound board embedded into the phone (which was my grandpa's). The tablecloth has the dreams transcribed and running into each other to form new dreams.
