There is something weirdly nostalgic to listening to the radio while you read a book and enjoy red wine with a view of Australia’s harbours. This one day of “holidays” alone has totally refreshed me lol.

Watched 10 Dance. Stunning film that accurately captures the tensions within dance partnerships, the difficult relationship many dancers have to dance itself, and some steamy same sex scenes as well. Brokeback Ballroom, if you will. Also! A rare Dancesport film that tried to get the dancing right.

This is quite a good whisky! Strong spice flavours, particularly a cinnamon quality that gives it a rich flavour. Very sharp though. Solid 8.5/10 drink.

Those fuckers! I just got informed by my publisher that Anthropic had pirated my book for their fucking AI model. That means I get a payout from the $1.5 billion lawsuit that Antrophic lost... but it's only $1,500 unless I turn down my share and sue independently.

This is one of my favourite whiskies ever. The subtle coffee notes and bitterness really layers in another kick. Really, really good drop. 11/10.

My Advent Calendar Japanese Whisky of the Day is a Sendai Whisky, distilled in a coffee still. This intrigues me. Review once consumed.

It’s very obvious that a sake master made this whisky. It has the same dry qualities of a good sake and is exceptional to drink. 10/10 will be buying a full bottle of this one.

Tonight’s Japanese Whisky in my Whisky Advent Calendar is a little number from Hyogo crafted by a Sake master. Wanna bet this is good stuff?

While not the most memorable whisky I have ever tasted and certainly not ghost flavoured I do appreciate how smokey the aftertaste is. A good hard whisky for easy drinking. 8/10.

Today’s Whisky of the Day in my advent calendar is a Whisky from Hiroshima! Intriguing factoid about it being aged in a disused railway tunnel. That’s where the horror happens in Japanese films so I’m going to assume this is ghost flavoured. Review when tasted.

Some really great dancing today. My favourite up-and-coming couple (the woman wearing the tan/beige costume) were a delight to watch as always.

DanceSport was decimated by COVID and the economy so it was heartening to see like 40 couples in the Opens category and multiple rounds of high quality too. This was one heat of the second round waltz. There would have been perhaps half these numbers 2-3 years ago.

For anyone that wants to watch, there is a live stream. At the moment it’s the early heats and lower level competition but in the afternoon and evening the quality of dancing is going to be *off the charts* dancesport.org.au/dsl/results/...

Today’s Advent Calendar Whisky of the Day is a common one - The Tottori, which is readily available in most bottle shops. Luckily I happen to like The Tottori and regularly buy bottles of it so I can give my review right now. Excellent, easy drinking whisky 9/10.

Very smooth and richly textured whisky, with a thick finish. Almost has a desert like quality, which I guess the sherry cask gave it. 8/10 would drink again.

Super smokey whisky this one, with a good burn flavour down the throat. Rough and ready rather than smooth, but one you’re not going to forget in a hurry. 9/10.
