Today I joined the @bcfed.bsky.social and my colleagues in the Legislature to honour workers who left for work but never returned home. On this day, and every day, we must commit to the vital work of upholding high standards of safety in the workplace to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Today marks one year since a joyful celebration of Filipino culture ended in devastating violence that still resonates in our hearts today. We remember the 11 lives lost, honour their memory and hold close the families, friends, survivors and community forever changed.

The Legislature felt a bit more like home last week! I love when students from Coquitlam visit Victoria. On Friday, Mr. Seah and the Pinetree Secondary Band 🎶came to perform outside the Legislature. I was grateful to be able to say hi and answer some questions about what life is like as a Minister.

It was wonderful to tour the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society! YES works across Greater Victoria to provide a safe and welcoming space for youth. They offer support through their food pantry, life skills programs, alliance club drop in, outreach services and much more. 🧡

Today I had the pleasure of meeting with members of the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) executive to discuss key priorities identified by the UBCM’s broader membership. UBCM executive is made up of 21 government elected officials from across the province.

Did you know there is a mobile therapy bus currently providing easy access to supports for over 70 Indigenous children and youth living in First Nation communities around Williams Lake, and the Cariboo Chilcotin region? The bus celebrated its 1st anniversary, as noted in the Williams Lake Tribune.

Today at the constituency office we got trained on how to safely use Naloxone to save someone’s life during an overdose. A huge thanks to the folks at Naloxhome for showing us how to spot signs of an overdose and intervene while medical professionals are on their way.

As I shared a few weeks ago, we introduced legislation this fall to bring more clarity to the process of MCFD safety planning. What a humbling experience to pass legislation for the first time! The CFCSA is now explicit about the parameters of safety planning, making the process clearer for all.
