I sold another paperback of ‘Who Watches the Horror?’!!!! That’s three books sold in four weeks - my best run in a very very long time😁

I managed to draft the extra chapter I wanted to add to ‘Who is the horror for?’ (and edit it a bit)! So that is definitely all my edits on the story done for now. A bit of festive time off, and then I’m hitting round three of edits hard, before getting some other eyes on the WIP!

I've finished my second round of editing 'Who is the Horror for?' On what is probably the last free night I have before Christmas! If I do get a spare hour in the next week, I think the story could do with one more chapter, but if it has to wait for a week or two, I'm ok with that😀

I’ve sat on my hands for a few days, and the madness has gone… Because I’ve realised I have loads to be doing, including finishing this round of edits for Who is the Horror for? (otherwise I’ll get lost), and writing my space horror story. So, it’s back to calm, collected, organised, boring me😀

So, my friend said nothing about buying my book, and therefore I assume they didn’t. Which means, that on about the same day, I sold an ebook and paperback of Who Watches the Horror? to people I don’t know and that’s is soooo cool😁

I have a crazy idea swirling around my mind! Before Seeking Sanctuary was accepted by the-press-that-shall-not-be-named, I was going to self-publish it. I’d even designed a cover with a snowy backdrop Do I just publish the novella now, knowing no one will be bothered, but as a December gift to me?

I've hit the halfway point in my second round of WIP editing! There is still a chance I might meet my target of being finished by Christmas...

Today’s, ‘in my head’ conversation: “What? I sold a book on Monday!” “Yes, but it’s a paperback so actually you sold it the end of last week.” “But I also sold an ebook Friday!” “Hang on. It’s rare to get one book sale, but two on one day? Impossible!” 1/2

I'm sad that I've had to ask for the rights to my novella, Seeking Sanctuary, back, after lots of concerns with the press. I'm grateful though to have met so many fab horror writers through the group, whose books I look forward to buying the next time I have some money in my back pocket.

So, last nights editing plans may have got slightly derailed [Curse you Stranger Things😉] But I’m going to edit tonight, promise…😬

Busy weekend, but now it’s head down tonight for the continued editing of ‘Who is the horror for?’ Really want to get through 150 pages by Christmas😬

How my brain works: Friday: I sold a book😁 Saturday: I bet I only sold a book because someone was fed up of me posting about it… Sunday: I wonder if the person who brought my book has started reading it? What if they have and they hate it? Maybe they’ve already put it down because it’s awful…🤦‍♂️

I really want to get the current round of edits for “Who is the horror for?” done before Christmas… But with November almost up, and the socialising involved in December it’s looking unlikely!

Can we talk characters? My initial inspiration for ‘Who Watches the Horror?’ came when watching FROM. But I didn’t want a stubbled hero. No genius millionaire, or organised solider. I wanted someone darker. A killer. Someone who wasn’t comfortable in social situations. And so Frank Post was born.

Can I interest you in my twisted tale of tortuous trials, and weird watchers? Inmate Frank Post must join a small group in a series of terrifying tests, their every move watched by the enigmatic Controller. How many has the man forced to face life or death decisions? And will this be the last time?

I’ve held off, ignored the world, and dodged and dipped and dived…but today I gave into Mariah🎄🎅🎁

Oh HELL NO!!!😡🤬 Ignoring the fact that “we need someone for simple tasks, and you stood out” is not the compliment they seem to think it is, I will 100% not feed the monster that threatens my writing job, and my hobby as a writer!

There's been so much to sort already this week, but I'm very pleased I've found some time tonight to start the edits for the main storyline of "Who is the horror for?" Let's hope this kicks off a good run of wordsmithery...

I’m not good with covers! That’s why I’m so pleased @mattwildasin.bsky.social has worked his magic and designed me an amazing cover for “Who is the horror for?” But because I’m not good with covers, now I’m not sure if it’s too early to share it. My book probably won’t be out until next Autumn…

After my bout of self-doubt, I have been focusing my editing on one of the two storylines in my WIP. It's the shorter, but most important, part of the novel. Tonight I finished the editing of that story, and while I still have pangs of uncertainty, I am much happier with how that part has shaped up.

So the good news is I’m out of my editing/self-doubt slump and making progress! The less good news is that I’ve ended up focusing on just one part of the multi-threaded story, so I’m jumping over chapters and totally confused about how much real progress I’m making through the WIP! But, you know…

It's that time when my family start asking if there's anything I want for Christmas. The answer is always BOOKS! So I'm wondering if people have self-published books I could take a gander at (horror, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, thriller...)? I can't make any promises, but would be interested to look...

Apparently spooky season is not quite over round my way! I put that balloon in the bin yesterday…and not the bin in the picture! The one up on the curb, waiting to be emptied! I swear if it’s out there tomorrow, I am going to get worried😬

Despite my continued doubts, I had a go at editing three chapters of my WIP last night. I'm going to have another crack at them tonight, because I'm still certain they can be better (and if I ignore the concerns in my head, hopefully, I'm the man to sort them out)

I got things sorted all week, so tonight I could start round two of edits on Who is the Horror for?... And I'm really not feeling it! Self-doubt is hitting me with: "Your writing is woeful." "It's amazing you've sold the books you have." "No one will want this one." "Give up..."

I know tonight, of all nights, I should be watching a horror movie... But at the start of the year, I said I'd try and be a good writer friend. So I've spent the evening editing someone else's words. Because, honestly, doing well myself would be nice, but I want to see others succeed too!

After round one of editing, I wanted to take a week off from my WIP… My characters apparently have other ideas🤦‍♂️

I finished reading Exequial by @creepshannah.bsky.social and it is an absolutely amazing collection of short stories! I am now officially freaked out by clowns, spiders, little girls with trowels…oh, and clowns again! But all in the best possible way for a horror reader😈 Well worth picking up!

Not sure how, but I think I somehow managed to sneak myself into another horror anthology…and I’m very excited about my story!
