After a double dose of rejection, it’s really nice to get my head down for some short story plotting today😀

I always have low expectations when querying indie publishers, so rejections don’t normally bother me. But getting two rejections within less than 24 hours did sting more than I expected! It is what it is though, and on I go [woth just a little more doubt and worry😬]

I’m very proud to have two stories included in this anthology shining light in the darkness! Well done to the fantastic editors and all the amazing authors involved

It’s been a whole week since I’ve checked my sales report…and actually I’m doing ok

Treating myself to season 2 of Fallout, and while I enjoy the stories of Lucy and Maximus, I absolutely adore the Ghoul. And I want so much more! I need to know the whole tale of the 200 years between him being Cooper Howard and the thing he is today…

I said I’d take a few days off writing, and what did I do? Scour the internet, and end up querying my novel with an indie publisher plus submitting a previously written short story to a call. So, my actual break, to recharge my writing batteries, starts now!

I have a very bad habit, and I need to give it up. Everyday, regardless of whether I’ve tried to promote my book or not, I’m checking my sales report. I can’t keep doing it. I must stop! So, from now on, buy my book or don’t, I’m not going to check the report until the end of March!

So, I think, I might sort of survived Friday 13th...

My third round of edits for "Who is the horror for?" are done! I'm going to take a little bit of time off, then there's a space horror short story that needs my attention, before I go again😀

With seven days until my editing deadline, I should be working on my WIP tonight. But it’s been a fun, tiring weekend, and I’m not sure I’m going to do my best work now. So, tonight off, and I’ll hit the final 25 pages harder tomorrow😴

Tonight's editing was slightly derailed as I thought I'd do a quick (and probably very poor) query to an indie press...

Sigh - I found it much easier to keep editing at the end of thirteen conescutive nights of writing, than tonight, after taking yesterday off. Oh well, I'll get back into it...

My wife got caught at work so I’ve managed to edit two more chapters tonight (ahead of the Traitors finale). So that’s now 12 consecutive days of editing, phew!

I've really knuckled down with my edits of 'Who is the horror for?' and have edited every night for the last eleven days. I'm now at page 100, just over halfway through the book. I know I can't keep up this pace, but I'm feeling much more on course to hit my mid-Fedbruary deadline😀

I’m not a fan of soup, because it’s basically liquid for lunch. I thought I’d be good today and use up a can that’s been in the cupboard for ages. The directions on the side were: Empty soup into a saucepan. Add water So make the liquid wetter!!!

It has been a day… But I’m still determined to carry on editing my WIP tonight!

I don't usually write on Fridays or Saturdays, but this week I've managed to sneak a session on both days. That means I've edited my WIP every day this week, and it's such a relief. Last week, I managed nine pages. I've now edited over 60. Pleased to be making progress...

On my way to work, a new self-storage place is being built. I was wondering what people might leave in there and then💡 Imagine an anthology about storage units! Each author writes takes a locker and writes a story about what’s in there. People could either pick their item, or you could draw lots…

Finally picking up pace with my edits, and almost back on track after the disasterous start to the week. Just got to keep at it (and hope the changes are making it better)...

After a slow start, I gave up on my deadline of getting my WIP finished by 31 January. So, this morning I set my sights on mid-Feb, and worked out I'd be fine if I did five evenings a week, and at least 10 pages per session. I was sure this would be achievable. Tonight, I managed three pages...

I might have had a little free time this morning, and choose to ping of a query😬 Doubt anything will come from it, but there's this one story that I have that really feels like it deserves a home with some cool publishing people

Getting back into everything writing after a couple of weeks off is proving harder than I expected. At the moment, I’m not sure I’ve even got the enthusiasm to try and get anyone excited about buying one of my books🤦‍♂️

Shared the prologue for Who is the horror for? with a work colleague, to see if it made sense without having read the book before it, and she absolutely loved it!

Saved up my pennies (and made the most of the January sales) to get myself a much-needed-new laptop. I’m sad to see the old one go, mainly because of the two cool anthology stickers I had on it. I think this year I might have to target story submissions with good merch😉

I sold another paperback of ‘Who Watches the Horror?’!!!! That’s three books sold in four weeks - my best run in a very very long time😁

I managed to draft the extra chapter I wanted to add to ‘Who is the horror for?’ (and edit it a bit)! So that is definitely all my edits on the story done for now. A bit of festive time off, and then I’m hitting round three of edits hard, before getting some other eyes on the WIP!

I've finished my second round of editing 'Who is the Horror for?' On what is probably the last free night I have before Christmas! If I do get a spare hour in the next week, I think the story could do with one more chapter, but if it has to wait for a week or two, I'm ok with that😀

After weeks of watching my creaky old laptop take forever to load, and then stutter through the start of my editing, I finally remembered to email myself a copy of my WIP…
