It's that time when my family start asking if there's anything I want for Christmas. The answer is always BOOKS! So I'm wondering if people have self-published books I could take a gander at (horror, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, thriller...)? I can't make any promises, but would be interested to look...

Apparently spooky season is not quite over round my way! I put that balloon in the bin yesterday…and not the bin in the picture! The one up on the curb, waiting to be emptied! I swear if it’s out there tomorrow, I am going to get worried😬

Despite my continued doubts, I had a go at editing three chapters of my WIP last night. I'm going to have another crack at them tonight, because I'm still certain they can be better (and if I ignore the concerns in my head, hopefully, I'm the man to sort them out)

I got things sorted all week, so tonight I could start round two of edits on Who is the Horror for?... And I'm really not feeling it! Self-doubt is hitting me with: "Your writing is woeful." "It's amazing you've sold the books you have." "No one will want this one." "Give up..."

I know tonight, of all nights, I should be watching a horror movie... But at the start of the year, I said I'd try and be a good writer friend. So I've spent the evening editing someone else's words. Because, honestly, doing well myself would be nice, but I want to see others succeed too!

After round one of editing, I wanted to take a week off from my WIP… My characters apparently have other ideas🤦‍♂️

I finished reading Exequial by @creepshannah.bsky.social and it is an absolutely amazing collection of short stories! I am now officially freaked out by clowns, spiders, little girls with trowels…oh, and clowns again! But all in the best possible way for a horror reader😈 Well worth picking up!

Not sure how, but I think I somehow managed to sneak myself into another horror anthology…and I’m very excited about my story!

And the first edit of Who is the Horror for? is finished! The story works (amazingly only a total of 300 words added) but now there’s a lot more work to be done on the depth of some of the characters

Another five evenings of work, and I'm now over three quarters of the way through my first edit of Who is the Horror For? Not long to go...until I can start the second round of edits😂

I've got to the bit in my WIP that is either pure brilliance, or the act of a crazed man...

We interrupt your regular editing updates, with news I've spent my evening reviewing the edits for my two stories in the Interesting Times anthology. My friend read Who Watches the Horror and absolutely loved it! I’ve had to cut out the start of her message, as she talks about the twists, but I genuinely love what she’s said about my writing🖤😈

Five days later...and now I'm over half way through my first rounds of edits. It's flown by, because I genuinely love these chapters, the action, and character interactions!

Today I sold a copy of Underperforming Underworld… And… A copy of Uplifting Murder! (First sale for each book in ages😁)

I can only echo all of Marc's gratitude. Thanks to him and Suzanna for being amazing, and to everyone who has made this anthology a reality!

One week into editing my WIP (aka checking the plot and chapters actually make sense), and I'm already a quarter of the way through the story! (And it's good👿)

It’s October, so feels like a good time for a name change… (And given I now write dark books, I’m wondering why I don’t have it this way all year🤷‍♂️😀😈)

The tomatoes and cucumber waited until the last second to flower, so I’ve got quite the haul now I’ve packed them up🤦‍♂️🍅🥒 (Plus a few chillies too)

Loving the October energy! Feels like a good time to mention I have a tale of torturous trials, with plenty of shocks along the way! Join seven strangers as they fight for their lives, while watched by the mysterious Controller. Who will live? And how many times has the Controller done this?

Normally, when I finish the first draft of a WIP, I have some time off, write a few short stories, then start the editing. But not this time! I am genuinely too jazzed about the story, not to get straight back into it!

That’s the first draft of the sequel to Who Watches the Horror? finished! There was a point last week where I thought I might not do it, but over 11,000 words in the last week has got me to The End. It’s all pretty rough at this stage, but the story is there and I can improve everything as I edit.

3,500 words written tonight and my reward was oh so glorious

I'm so excited for Season 3 of Alice in Borderland! My hope is to crank out 3,000 words and then reward myself with the first episode...

Somedays, the sad thing about being a horror writer is that you have a great character, you really enjoy writing, and you still have to kill them off, never to be seen again. (Although, ok, I sort of broke that rule in Who Watches the Horror?, but I definitely cannot pull that stunt in the sequel!)

Passed 60,000 words on my WIP tonight (working title: Who is the Horror?)

I’ve had an amazing September, writing 20,000 words on my WIP, seeing the anthology I have two stories included in be funded on Kickstarter, and signing the contract for my horror novella to be published! Wondering if I might manage a book sale/page reads to round of the month🤔🤷‍♂️

I’m delighted to announce that my first ever horror novella, Seeking Sanctuary, will be published by @gravesidepress.bsky.social next year! Can’t believe I found a home for my dark, demon filled story, and it’s with such a cool press, full of fab folks 😁😈🖤
