And I think that the saddest part there is... Sekiro isn't all that idiosyncratic? People's view of commercial animation has narrowed so much that the adaptation of a popular game with painterly BGs, granular lines by one of the most renowned designers, and deliberate color contrasts is Too Weird

One in-between looking like it has one extra finger = AI is reductive and goofy, but at least I can see how you'd make the connection. Unfortunately, many people seem to have walked backwards from not liking Kutsuna's distinct color choices & the linework -> there must be an objective, moral wrong

For the people who were quick to buy into the accusations, I hope it can be a bit of a learning moment. Fingers (lol) were pointed at a specific drawing that is very clearly regular, not so good human processing of linework that'd have required a stronger team to properly interpret & trace it

Doesn't solve the widespread anti-art tendencies that misaccusations due to AI panic merely reveal, and it won't change a studio that's already so deeply invested in techbro grifts, but I love that qzilla has been forced to issue a statement explaining that no AI was used in the production of Sekiro
