Last night I was in community as we honored the lives of Alex Pretti, Renee Nicole Good, and 37 other individuals who had been murdered during ICE activities. Pastor Kennedy came out and spoke to these people and the good that they put into this world. I then read the names while we had silence.

I absolutely love typing on a typewriter. Besides having no distractions, it brings out a certain type of art not found in writing elsewhere.

Today has been heavy. I've recently been using my typewriter to transcribe my thoughts into written word. Some of that has been dabbling in poetry. Since poetry has no rules, like the federal government likes to think they don't, I figured I would share those thoughts with y'all today.

Yet another killing of a protester. A protester who was simply video recording. Police are trained to de-escalate. They're trained to not stand in front of vehicles. They're trained to act smart. I stand with everyone, no matter your political leanings, to get ICE out of our neighborhoods.

The thing I hate the most about the news that he was from here, is the amount of people you see immediately go and attack my hometown. North Pekin was built as a company town for Caterpillar in the 1940's and 50's.

I took a trip up to beautiful Wyoming,IL yesterday to meet with some fabulous people, and had to check out the old Rock Island station. I absolutely love this district and the history of it all.

My New Year's Resolution this year is to read 5 books over 2026. That doesn't seem like a lot, but it's something that I don't really do. So I decided that I would start it right, both with the book, and with supporting my local library 💜

Don't ever tell me that I don't want it. Almost 3200miles in 4 days worth of driving.

The end is always bittersweet. New friends. Old friends. I've learned so much more this year, and feel absolutely invigorated for this campaign.

Out at the International LGBTQ+ Leaders conference here in DC! Local change doesn't happen in a bubble, but with the broader community.
