Our Stewardship Team is working hard to remove purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria, class B noxious weed) on our protected lands. How to help: Dig up the roots, bag & dispose of it. At the very least, cut it at the base and dispose of the flowers -- each plant can produce up to 2.7 million seeds!

Just over a year ago, this gravel bar along the Nisqually River was covered in 5-8’ Scotch broom and butterfly bush. This spring, with the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, it transformed into a native riverbank lupine and rare aster colony! 🌱 🐝

A lucky encounter on NLT protected lands 🐍 Our Stewardship Manager spotted a Northern rubber boa (Charina bottae) on one of our sites last week. This constrictor is nocturnal and spends much of its time underground, making it difficult to find.
