I decided my 2025 resolution is finally catching up with my instagram posts. I probably won't accomplish it (in 10 days I only managed to fall even further behind) but one can hope...

One of the very first detectors of this lab is ORION (ORganic Interceptor Of Neutrons), used in the 80s to measure neutrons evaporated in nuclear collisions. It had ~5000L of liquid scintillator doped with Gd (inside the red chamber) to coupled with photomultipliers (grey tubes)

I climbed a mountain for no reason only because Google said it was just 40 minutes and 2 km away. It turned out to be 5 km and almost 2h. I feel betrayed
