I caught myself being angry too many times over things I have no control of. So I have a few rules for that now. If I see AI gen images, I block. You have a choice to use whatever you feel is best for you. I have a choice to not consume what hurts artists.

I’ve played about 1,5 hours of AC Shadows and it’s so beautiful! Especially loved that there is an option to play an intended story! If it wouldn’t involve literal YEARS, close to a DECADE of making one of these, I’d jump on the opportunity to contract on a title.

My wife, who is not part of my target audience, does not like the genre, played for 30 minutes and had fun. I feel like this is a good sign.

For my next game (not the one I'm currently working on) there will be no UI. I am done with it. Hate every single part of making UI's work. Godot is probably one of the easiest to do UI in, but the best tasting shit is still shit.

Sometimes features come from cool ideas. Sometimes they come from inspiration or Game XY did it. SOMETIMES the feature is made in a specific way because that’s the only way I managed to make it work and I spent days on trying to make it work the nice way and it’s a steaming pile of spaghetti.

I feel lied to. No one told me you could do this many cool things with shaders! Dynamic 2D shadow? Shader Atmospheric lights? Shader Cool animated tile edge highlight? Shader Dynamic outlines? Shader

Making a quest system when there are only a few things permanent and most of the world is generated, spawned when needed is an interesting challenge. I haven’t seen a lot of it in games lately.

I’ve made enough spaghetti code that content creation needs to be in focus now. Time to design some levels with the mechanics I’ve built over the last week!

In the last few days I’ve learned that my speed of making content is a lot faster than anticipated. What i thought would take me a week or two, is about 3-4 hours. That’s not because I got really smart all of a sudden but my focus time on the game increased by magnitudes. Still writing bad code tho
