Happy D&D Day! Over at Lake Geneva Games, today, Jason allowed us to include a D&D Day tribute in the form of rolling up original edition PCs. Donna Gygax came by, and Alex Gygax, who also works at the store joined in the celebration.

Over the years, since Gary's passing, Lake Geneva has embraced his legacy. With conventions, festivals, landmarks and memorials, museum exhibits, a thriving game store and gaming community, the upcoming 52nd Anniversary of D&D on January 27th will be well-remembered all year long!

For the 51st Anniversary of D&D, Vince rounded up some adventurers and convinced Ernie (it didn't take much!) to DM for us once again. Glad we got one last game in with him before he passed a month later.

For the 50th anniversary of D&D, January 27, 2024, I popped by 330 Center St to share part of the day with Yolanda the steward of the Center Street Dungeon: Birthplace of DND. We rolled a pair of Gary's d100 gifted to me by Alex Gygax.

It's stated that Gary disliked Tolkien's work and said it didn't influence D&D but, it was in Appendix N years after D&D's inception and there were enough Tolkien references in (O)D&D that removing them turned out to be difficult. One wonders if his protestations were reactive rather than ingrained.

For January 27, 2024, the 50th anniversary of D&D, Eric Honea set up a game at Dragonlands with Ernie and Donna Jovani and invited us to share the day! Make your plans for next Tuesday to celebrate the 52nd anniversary!

The last Sunday in January in 1974 was the 27th, and was reportedly when D&D had been published, printed, and first sold, and also happens to be six months either side of Gary Gygax's B-Day. So it seems a perfect time of year to celebrate the anniversary of D&D!
