Tunnel boring machines are not standard-issue construction equipment. Each TBM that we use for the Hudson Tunnel Project is a highly complex machine, custom-built for this project. The TBM in this video is on its way to New Jersey now. We'll reassemble it on site and start tunnel boring next year.

GDC congratulates Kathryn Garcia on her nomination to lead the Port Authority of NY and NJ. During her tenure in Governor Hochul's office, Kathryn has played a key role in getting the HTP to where it is today. She will pick up the mantle of exemplary leadership from retiring director Rick Cotton.

This week the North River Tunnel enters its 116th year of service. It’s no surprise that a tunnel this old is a leading cause of train delays. The Hudson Tunnel Project is replacing this antiquated tunnel with modern infrastructure that gets riders where they need to go when they need to get there.

We're hard at work on both sides of the Hudson River - and in it. The Manhattan Tunnel Project team is installing marine temporary structures in the water just off Manhattan to enable ground stabilization beneath the bulkhead in preparation for tunnel boring.

GDC recently installed a temporary noise barrier around the Hudson County Shaft construction site. This video shows the process, from polling local residents to choose a design to completing the project, which included planting 36 trees and adding 9 new parking spots.

🚂WEEK-END UPDATE: Palisades Tunnel Project🚧 Work is advancing at both ends of the NJ section of the new tunnel. The tunnel boring machine launch point is coming together in North Bergen, and we're now building the slurry wall for the Hudson County Shaft.

🚉WEEK-END UPDATE: Tonnelle Avenue🚂 Work on Tonnelle Ave is nearly complete! The final stages of construction involve finishing rock excavation and preparing to build the foundation and approach slab for the new bridge.

GDC is committed to being a good neighbor to the communities where construction work is taking place. This past weekend, we helped the Hudson River Park Green Team clean up Clinton Cove and plant rose bushes at Pier 95.

🔨WEEK-END UPDATE: HYCC-3 🚂 Excavating the trench for the HYCC-3 tunnel box doesn’t just involve digging. The team is also installing struts, tiebacks, and walers to hold up the walls of the trench. 64 struts, 95 tiebacks, and 170 walers have been installed in the trench so far.

🏗️WEEK-END UPDATE: HRGS🌊 If you're looking at HRGS from Manhattan, you'll have a better view soon! The team is shifting the cofferdam east toward the shore. Deep Soil Mixing also continues inside the cofferdam. We've now mixed more than 428 soilcrete columns.

🚂WEEK-END UPDATE: Palisades Tunnel Project🚧 You’ve got to go up to go down at the Palisades Tunnel Project site. The team built a massive ramp to install secant piles that will stabilize the sides of the launch point for the boring machines that will dig this section of tunnel.
