This small glass flask once stood in the tomb of a Roman soldier in Colchester. It belonged to Marcus Favonius Facilis, a centurion of the Twentieth Legion stationed here nearly 2,000 years ago. His tomb was destroyed during Boudica’s revolt in AD 60/1, so objects like this survive almost by chance.
