The Edmonton Oilers have to play better on the road to have a successful month of November
Edmonton Oilers play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels came out with a good stat yesterday. With a 4â0â2 record through six home games, it's the longest home points streak to open a season for the Oilers since 2000â01. The fact y hat the Oilers have continued to make Rogers Place a tough place to play is commendable. Yet, it also disguises one harsh truth: the Oilers have not played well at all away from home.

Examining Ryan Nugent-Hopkinsâ role in the Edmonton Oilers going forward
Of the individuals off to a great start to the season, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is among the brighter spots of the Oilers' lineup. It has been a bit of a roller coaster for Nugent-Hopkins the past few seasons. After setting a career high with 104 points in 2022â23, smashing his previous best of 68, Nugent-Hopkins' production has declined since, with a much quieter 49 points last season.

As a cup-contending team, the

The goaltending woes of the Edmonton Oilers are on track to continue
Every season there tends to be speculation that the Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of upgrading or finding a solution to their goaltending woes that have plagued the organization since the mid-2000s. One recognizable trend for Oilers is to just throw a sheer number of goaltenders at the problem. Rarely does quantity help produce quality. Quantity also rarely produces stability between the pipes.

Breaking down the Edmonton Oilersâ mushy forward lines
This might sound unlikely, but the Edmonton Oilers are off to their best start in three seasons. The Oilers currently sit at 5â4â2 through their first 11 games. They have struggled to put together consistent performances night after night. Although the five-goal, second period eruption against the Utah Mammoth certainly helps things. One of the biggest culprits for this lack of sustained success has been the continued juggling of positions amongst forwards.

Evan Bouchard has been less than stellar to start the season, with costly giveaways and poor positioning being directly responsible for multiple goals against. We dive into why he has struggled so much this season:

Breaking down what is going on with the Edmonton Oilersâ Evan Bouchard?
Evan Bouchard has time and again proven himself as an elite puck-moving defenceman who can drive play offensively while maintaining solid defensive responsibility. However, through the first 10 games of this season his performance has been a stark contrast to the player the team needs. His 2024â25 campaign easily put him as one of the leagueâs premier young blueliners. But just ten games into the 2025â26 season, that image has cracked.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was âa little snake bittenâ last season claims Kris Knoblauch
The Edmonton Oilers 4â3 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night added to their string of mixed results this season. Goals have been hard to come by this season for the Edmonton Oilers. They are somehow 4â4â2 despite scoring more than three times in a game exactly once, last week against Montreal. The Edmonton Oilers, coming off back-to-back losses in the New York/New Jersey region, headed westward for another afternoon game against the Detroit Red Wings. Their last afternoon game was the previous day; that game did not go well whatsoever. The hope was that facing a Wings team without Patrick Kane would be a get-right game for the Orange & Blue.

captain Connor McDavid talks about the team being 'out of sync' after falling 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon. Here's what he had to say:

Connor McDavid admits team is âout of syncâ after two losses on the trot
For the second time in three days, Connor McDavid found himself answering variations of the same question: Whatâs gone wrong with the Edmonton Oilers game? After a 5â3 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon, the answer came without bluster or excuse. âMaybe for the first 20 we cleaned it up a little bit,â McDavid said of Edmontonâs early effort, âand then made a few mistakes there in the second period that put us behind the eight ball and didnât recover.â

Oilers Sunday Census: an early look at Evan Bouchardâs chances for team Canada
Things have been cyclical for the Edmonton Oilers. After back-to-back losses in the Stanley Cup Final, not to mention four straight seasons of losing to the eventual champions, the Oilers are off to another frustrating and somewhat bewildering start to the season. Despite their collective focus, with a strong focus on captainâs skates even prior to training camp, the Oilers continue to find a way to come out of the gates slow.

The Edmonton Oilers are once again struggling to begin the season
Crazy that just over one year ago today, this post came out detailing a second consecutive concerningly slow start to the season for the Edmonton Oilers. And here we are, five games into the 2025â26 season, fielding similar concerns. However, the results are not quite as bad as the last two years. A 2â2â1 record with a shutout win over the New York Rangers.

donât have a goal song for each individual player, but what are some possibilities that would suit each player? Hereâs a list of songs that match some players:

Choosing goal songs for the Edmonton Oilers
Last year, I wrote about how some teams had started to let players choose individual goal songs, and I suggested songs that some Edmonton Oilers players may want to use if the team did let them. I've decided to update that list, whether it be choosing a new song for returning players or coming up with ones for the new guys.

How the Edmonton Oilers can best use salary cap in 2026â27
The NHL's salary cap is set to take a big jump over the next few years. After a few years with a flat cap due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHL is making a major effort to increase the cap over the next three seasons, with a $95.5M cap this year, $104M next year, and a projected cap of $113.5M in 2027â28.

Oilers rumour roundup: Alex Tuch linked to Edmonton
The Edmonton Oilers are officially a few weeks into their season, which sees them with a record of 2â1â1. The team has already been active with the addition of forward Jack Roslovic last week. That hasn't stopped the team from continuing to look to improve itself. There's been tons of speculation already on what the plan is in Oil Country up until the deadline.

The

fell 4â2 to the New York Islanders last night as the team struggled to take a lead all night. Hereâs what went wrong for Edmonton:

Rough night at the Long Island office for Edmonton Oilers as they lose 4â2 to New York Islanders
Following a 2â0 win at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers turned their focus to Long Island. After a win over the New York Rangers, the New York Islanders awaited, hungry for their first win of the season. This type of game is usually considered a "trap game" for many teams, the Oilers included. It turned out to be the case, as the Oilers were slow, lethargic and for the second straight game, just didn't look like themselves.
