We’re doing our annual “hike every day in May” challenge. First six days have been stunning!

Life and work have been a little bit hectic lately, but we snuck north for a half-day hike Saturday! 9.5 miles on an out-and-back with ~4,200 ft of gain. This hike got 2 of the 5 peaks that we set as our spring goal 🤍 #dogsthathike #typetwofunclub

We did have a very nice lazy woodswalk this morning, despite the drizzle!

This 3day weekend was supposed to be our big spring adventure. Weather cancelled it (tomorrow will be a nasty one up in the mountains). And you know what? Thats totally fine. Looking forward to a loungey weekend with lots of reading and dog snuggles. Its really nice when the pressure is off.

This morning was pretty.

The dogs and I ended our season the same place we started it—Prospect Farm trails at Jackson. Our first run back in mid-November was, and feels like, a long time ago. Saturday was good reminder that skiing is fun, even moreso when chasing dog butts. #retiredsleddog #WylieandWolfy #TypeTwoFunClub

The entire day, i kept marveling that i skied up every. damn. hill. In this section in 2024. After revisiting it, I have even less of a clue how I did it. Fellow skier Scott Parsinaeau and I were chatting after both scratching today and he told me he kept thinking of my 2024 write up on this leg 😂😂

It…be…hecking…WIMDY. The strongest winds ive ever been out in. What was a half-day trek in 2024 was a full exertion this year!!

This “camp spot” is shell lake lodge, a seasonal resort in the process of being rebuilt. They have guest ‘dry cabins’ with woodstoves and bunks, free for ITI athlete use. A great spot to rest up and dry out if you dont mind being in a 10x10’ cabin with 10 other stinky athletes 😂

Great news: Im settled in in Anchorage, where I’ll be until #ITIalaska race day. My lil’ spot here has immaculate vibes, is a 2 minute walk from a pristine municipal winter trail…and even has indoor plumbing!

This race starts and finishes at Happy Trails Kennel, home or Martin Buser. I had a nice long chat with Martin before race yesterday and he gave me one order before ITI starts: get fatter 😂. Dinner last night after the race:

Great weather, stunning scenery, and much cleaner race management than last time—a good reminder that repeating known trail is easier because it it allows for informed decision making.
