The entire day, i kept marveling that i skied up every. damn. hill. In this section in 2024. After revisiting it, I have even less of a clue how I did it. Fellow skier Scott Parsinaeau and I were chatting after both scratching today and he told me he kept thinking of my 2024 write up on this leg 😂😂

It…be…hecking…WIMDY. The strongest winds ive ever been out in. What was a half-day trek in 2024 was a full exertion this year!!

This “camp spot” is shell lake lodge, a seasonal resort in the process of being rebuilt. They have guest ‘dry cabins’ with woodstoves and bunks, free for ITI athlete use. A great spot to rest up and dry out if you dont mind being in a 10x10’ cabin with 10 other stinky athletes 😂

Great news: Im settled in in Anchorage, where I’ll be until #ITIalaska race day. My lil’ spot here has immaculate vibes, is a 2 minute walk from a pristine municipal winter trail…and even has indoor plumbing!

This race starts and finishes at Happy Trails Kennel, home or Martin Buser. I had a nice long chat with Martin before race yesterday and he gave me one order before ITI starts: get fatter 😂. Dinner last night after the race:

Last slow morning before ITI: snuggles, sofa, coffee. . And my act of self care: purchasing a plane ticket to a friend’s destination wedding in Ireland! I always have one fun and very concrete plan set for after a big adventure, as a reminder that there’s more to look forward to beyond the goal 🤍🇮🇪☘️🐑

Just here to report that both Wylie and Wolfy are being exceptionally good dogs through all my training and logistics and prep for #ITIalaska. They’re being left home on the sofa a lot more than they were in 2024…which is where they want to be. They’d just prefer I stayed there with them more 🤍

#ITIalaska drop bags are locked! 4.92 and 4.97lbs, respectively. Just under the limit. These will get mailed out to AK next week… race starts in under a month now!

My cousin lives in North Minneapolis, is Latina, and has left her home once in the past week+. The one time she left (for church group), her neighborhood was quite literally invaded with squadrons of goons, helicopters, flash bangs and mystery gas. 🖕🏻🧊

Snuggle time with Willy Nelson Jr and Wylie! Anyone who knows Wylie knows what a behavioral miracle this is haha. Willy currently sleeps inside due to a recent medical diagnosis and adjusting to the new meds. As he’s close to retirement anyways, he’s very happy about the situation!! 😂
