The Wallace Monument film took over a month to get right. Evening sun only, after 5.30pm, once the site closed. One cloudy visit became the aerial mapping I shared on Friday. Same project, different outputs.

Same data, different results. Working with Allan Price and reprocessing archived aerial mapping data using @Pix4D shows just how far photogrammetry has advanced in six years. This 2019 Wallace Monument scan proves it. I’m re entering the aerial mapping space.

The final run of the day often brings the best light. Warm sun on the peaks, cold shadows across the piste, and a huge dynamic range to manage in camera. Photography is about timing, not luck.

Riddle me this. Switzerland’s oldest city, Alpine peaks on the skyline, murals on walls, and red trains threading their way through town before climbing high on a famous narrow gauge railway. Guess where? Strong visuals tell stronger stories.

Same place in Arosa, about 20 minutes apart. Twilight and snow completely change the feel. One panoramic image, one conventional frame, both ground based. Timing is everything. If light and mood matter to your project, happy to talk it through.

Lincolnshire winter sunrise on the edge of the Fens. Flat landscapes demand subtlety, light, texture and patience rather than drama. A reminder that simplicity still needs careful planning.

Perth at sunset, high tide and a still winter’s night gave these reflections on the River Tay. I only needed a minute more for a @ScotRail train to cross, but the dog had other ideas. Timing is everything in photography.
