Still sick, by the way. But I’m finally starting to feel better instead of worse!

So, I still have a job. They’re going to have me do 100% trade services work for now until things open up again. I also went to urgent care since I still feel like garbage. Was re-swabbed for covid, both flus, and RSV. Still negative so what I got was a big “it’s a virus?” shrug.

Bad news: I am sick as a dog. Good news: I am negative for covid and influenza A/B, according to the pharmacy. Hoping I feel better soon cause if there’s a government shutdown I HAVE to go in tomorrow and prepare for furlough. Wee.

So, I am finally sifting through the photos I took at our local zoo on Saturday and I realized I caught a little wah blep! 🥹

So I guess they’re threatening to fire instead of furlough federal employees if there’s a shutdown. Cool, cool. I love being used as a bargaining chip. / s I stg if they do this to me again I’m done.

So much for “networking” here. Folks are sticking to the people they already know. Been having breakfast and dinner alone every day. Nobody is really going out of their way to be friendly and I feel like I’m interrupting if I try to interject into an already established group. Sigh.

Yeah this has sucked so far. A short layover took three hours because of a plane malfunction. My room is next to the stairwell with the bed against that wall; I can hear everyone opening the door. The training isn’t made for my ADHD brain; it’s just watching PowerPoint slides. I’m tired and grumpy.

Work is making me travel for a training in Oklahoma all week. Ugh. Not excited, I’ll probably be trapped in a hotel all week since the training is in the hotel and work only budgeted for a ride from/to the airport.

So, proposed changes to health insurance for federal employees in 2026 includes removing coverage for gender affirming care for all ages. My spouse will not be able to get their HRT covered at all and I might have to jump through more hoops to get HRT for menopause.

I found these candles at Dollar Tree that will drip red wax when they melt. Found the ghost candle holders at Target but they were super plain. So, I painted them! I don’t have a steady hand for painting anymore but I think they’re cute! Do I light them now or wait until closer to Halloween? x3

I finally see my cardiologist today for my usual check in, and my pcp wants me to ask them about my hot flashes. I know they’re going to tell me it’s not cardiac related, but I guess at least I can check that box off for my doctor this afternoon. One step closer to actually getting treatment?

Starting off the week with my coworker in the next cubicle saying “Did you sleep at all last night?” because apparently I’m yawning too much.

Fun Shoki fact: I like taking cheap candles and making them into something cool! Sometimes I just add scent and put them into a neat jar, other times I’ll make them look more artsy. I’m very much still learning but I have fun with it! :3

Had the mother of all migraines today, left work pretty early. Finally feeling better, but I’m not looking forward to my one coworker who sits next to me rolling her eyes about it again. She seems to think I make a bigger deal out of these “headaches” than I need to. It’s really annoying. :/

Ugh. I’ve been struggling with perimenopause symptoms for months, and while my doctor acknowledges that I’m probably in an early stage of it, she can’t do anything because my labs are normal. I guess I’ll just keep having hour long hot flashes until it gets bad enough to detect. Yay.

I work part time at a board game store. A group came in to play D&D and I overheard them discussing different pride flags and being very confused. I provided some education and one of them said “Wow, you’re very knowledgeable!” so I replied “Thanks, I’m also very queer!” lol.

So Eddie seems to have made a full recovery. Stopped sneezing and I don’t see the cold sore things on his mouth anymore. Vet said to discontinue the meds but keep the rest in case he flares up again. Hooray!

So they think (aren’t sure) he has kitty herpes, which can cause respiratory problems as well as the sores they saw in his mouth. Going to try medication for that, a humidifier again, and monitor him for now. Poor baby.

Eddie is sneezing a lot. Doesn’t seem to be anything else bothering him atm, but he’s going to the vet today because that’s how the bad respiratory infection started earlier this year. Not messing around with that. Fingers crossed it’s something minor though!

Been back at work for a week. Already either being reassigned to another job or having a whole other job just added on top of mine. Nobody is sure yet, but either way I’ve started training for the new duties.

As far as I know, I am returning to work tomorrow morning. I'm a little anxious, tbh. No idea what the climate has become while I was gone, and it's almost like starting a new job again. ... If anyone asks how my "vacation" was they're gonna get an earful, lol.

Guess who is currently without health insurance atm due to a clerical error? Yeah, so even though I was never fully terminated AND I'm being reinstated next week... HR pulled the plug on my insurance. Got a letter from the provider... Hopefully they can fix this quickly. :/
