Day 14, Blue-throated Hillstar Critically endangered (80-110 mature individuals, decreasing) This hummingbird wasn’t discovered until 2018. It lives in a small area in the páramos of southwestern Ecuador, where its habitat is being burnt for agriculture and further degraded by cattle grazing

Day 13, Regent honeyeater Critically endangered (350-400 mature individuals, decreasing) This Australian bird is affected by droughts and habitat loss. It's lost most of it (75%) to agricultural and residential expansion, and it’s suspected that more aggressive species have excluded it further

Day 12, Balearic shearwater Critically endangered (19,000 mature individuals, decreasing) The population declines at a rate of about 14% per year. This bird doesn’t begin breeding until 4-6 years of age and as such, adult mortality is its biggest threat

Day 11, Bali myna Critically endangered (fewer than 50* mature individuals, decreasing) Victim of illegal pouching for the cagebird trade since the 1990s. With the population critically low, genetic erosion, interspecific competition, natural predation, etc are some other threats the species faces
