Went to see The Long Walk last night. 4th highest rated Stephen King adaptation of all time. I love such a simple premise. But damn if I wasn’t curious about the greater context/repercussions of this world. A lot of folks in the theater left vocally unsatisfied. But maybe, weirdly, that’s the point?

In my neighborhood on my walk last night……

I ran this poll on the channel the other day, and found the results pretty interesting. That’s a remarkably even divide—granted I don’t know what the age breakdown is.

I was born 30 years ago today. And I don’t think I’ve changed one bit. This is still pretty me every day workin’.

Nebula approved my pitch for a limited exclusive essay series I’ve been wanting to develop for awhile. I’ll keep y’all updated on that, but I’m hoping to push the boundaries of the traditional video essay format with it, at least a little bit. And if it’s successful, even moreso with a season 2.

Thing about one’s birthday coming up is that every few years it means time to renew your drivers license... Up bright and early today to get to that sweet, sweet DMV appointment.

The hardest part of my job is probably recording. Especially in NYC. Between the noise and the humidity, I’m stuck in a closet until 2 in the morning sweating my hair off, hearing my voice grow increasingly more exhausted hoping for a solid take. But then I wake up (at noon) so relieved it’s done.

Time to go to work.

Oof. I have to finish this video script by the end of the day. I’m SO close. And I just. Can’t. Get. Myself. To keep going. Blehhhhhhh. Damn Fridays.

Wrapping up work on my First Blood video that’ll come out in a few weeks. It somehow ended up at 14 minutes AND I couldn’t say all I wanted to say. So expect a part 2 shortly after. That’s the thing about classics.

Saw Fantastic 4 last night. Went in pretty blind. Fun time overall. Weirdly struck a tonal chord I was looking for in Superman, but that felt more authentically done here. Liked Silver Surfer’s movements. Liked the character dynamics. CGI & action scenes though… ehhh. Not a reason to rewatch.

Going into Fantastic 4. Optimistic. Will update tomorrow.

Attended a special screening and Q&A last night of Academy Award winner Mstyslav Chernov’s new documentary, 2000 Meters to Andriivka. Blessed to have been invited by the man personally.

For anyone who hasn’t watched his first film, ‘20 Days in Mariupol’, I highly encourage you to. You can watch it with a PBS Documentaries trial on Prime. It’s devastating.

Saw Superman last night at the Alamo. Very good time. Did find myself more critical of some things than maybe most of the people around me. Certain aspects of the performances and some of the CGI (maybe after just seeing Final Reckoning) took me out a bit. But looking forward to what’s to come.

Back in NYC from being on vacation for 10 days. Starting work back up tomorrow is either going to be very refreshing or very challenging…
