I very recently tried to play the first volume of the Indian Wars of the American West, Adobe Walls by Legion Wargames. But, actually to my surprise, I couldn’t. I was sickened by the explicitness of one of the US victory points source: loot and burn the Comanche and Kiowa winter camps.

The Germans defend in depth in bocage and are really tough to crack unless you have plentiful supply, which the Allies don’t have. The only weak point is defended by the Panzer Lehr, but the 275D is rushing to set up a line in Canisy behind them. Battle for Normandy by @gmtgames.bsky.social

Halfway through the time available, French pressure is about to break the Austrian defenses at several spots. However, the Austrians still have some muscle to throw into the fray. Victory points wise, this is still a clear Austrian victory in the long scenario of All are Brothers, Legion Wargames.

Turn 6 of 14 of my first try at All are brothers. French and Sardinian are pushing but the Austrians are not collapsing and reinforcements are coming. Really enjoying this game!

One turn down and the system seems rather accessible. Chit pull helps a lot with solitaire play. All are brothers from Legion Wargames. Seeing this, I’ve made my P500 preorder of At any cost Metz 1870 of @gmtgames.bsky.social

GTS Battle of the Ebro: If my current understanding of the sources is correct, there was no way the Republicans could have taken Gandesa on July 26. No heavy weapons and just 6 battalions against some 10 battalions with artillery and air superiority.

And here the 35 division in all it’s never achieved glory.

The more I learn about @gmtgames.bsky.social ‘s Fields of Fire system, the more I’m picturing a 1938 Battle of the Ebro implementation of the system. No radios, plenty of runners, limited initiative, political commissars, maybe down to platoons only. “Fields of Fire Lincoln Brigade”!!

Jours de Gloire on Vassal ongoing. Austrians (me) in Iéna feel like butter in front of the French.

South front is active with Republicans fighting off Nationalist counterattacks on Paüls but failing to take Xerta, a secondary objective. The active Nationalist counterattack is finding stiff resistance from the international 11th and 13th brigades, supported by a company of T26b tanks.

New testing session of my Ebro battle 1938 solitaire game. The new Events phase seems to work well as do the new detailed operational orders. Maximum stacking and some other aspects are still in need of polishing.

Estirant el fil dels meus familiars directes gràcies als arxius digitalitzats de l’arquebisbat de Tarragona, ahir vaig saber que un avantpassat meu, Barthomeu Volart, boter de professió, tenia llogada una botiga al carrer del Joc de Pilota avui visible al Born a Barcelona. Parlem del 1670s…

Avui he comprat a AliExpress per primer cop… una clipejadora de 2mm que sembla igual que la que se’m va trencar l’altre dia. Gens, gens barata. Veurem si com a mínim no és una estafa però la veritat és que tornar a “clip counters” amb un talla ungles, no m’hi veig amb cor…

La partida que porto dies jugant del GTS Greatest Day, ha acabat en flagrant derrota aliada. Els canadencs han estat incapaços de trencar la línia de defensa de la 12SS Pz Div a Juno Beach i algunes unitats han practicament desaparegut.

El progrés dels canadencs és lent i molt costós. La 12 SS Pz Div és molt dura i els Canadencs sempre van curts de punts de comandament. Tierceville es resisteix però Banville sembla que serà alliberada aviat. Que lluny que queden els objectius però… GTS de MultiManPub.

Matí del 7 de juny de 1944, els canadencs han esembarcat i comencen la progressió cap a l’interior. La 716 divisió alemanya serà facilment eliminada a la primera línia de defensa, pero la 12 SS Pz D a la segona línia serà més dificil. GTS The Greatest Day GJW.

La meva clipejadora s’ha trencat despres de clipejat uns quants milers de counters i he provat el tractament de rescat, rollo traumatologia de claus i cargols. Veurem si la cosa aguanta…

Buidar les platges, Juno en aquest cas, és un drama… M’ha pres tot el dia 6 de juny. Hauria d’haver organitzat molt més bé els enginyers perquè el problema han estat els camins de sortida minats. GTS de MMP.

Final de partida, escenari 3 de l’Operation Mercury, GTS de MMP. Els alemanys s’han quedat curts d’un hexagon per guanyar. Han aconseguit ocupar 1 part de la pista d’aterratge però no ha estat prou. El push inicial cap al port es va veure frenat pels soldats de la CW atrinxerats a Heraklion.

Els Fallschirmjäger miren d’agafar el port d’Heraklion a l’escenari 3 del Operation Mercury de la serie GTS de MMP.

Aplastant derrota republicana que es fa evident el 29 de juliol. Malgrat els èxits inicials, l’excés d’ambició s’ha pagat car i els contraatacs nacionals han provocat el caos i la desbandada republicana.

Més o menys a meitat de partida, les coses no pinten bé pels republicans. Mirar d’agafar massa espais estratègics obre la porta als contra atacs nacionals en massa… Strategy tip.
