Trying to catch up on the #30DayMapChallenge Day 1: Points. Since it is almost ski season in the Northern Hemisphere, I wanted to find the top 10 ski resorts with the most significant vertical drop within 100 miles of Boston. I used data from openskimap.org and made the map in R using Leaflet.

Trying to get back into the #tidytuesday habit. Using visa data from the Henley Passport Index (2025-09-09) to see where I can go without a visa.

I learned how to ski a few years ago and like to keep track of where I have been. I am super excited to have found openskimap.org; so much map data is available! Now that I'm back from holiday break and have been looking for a new map project to start, I think some sort of ski map could be fun.

Day 7: Vintage Style #30daymapchallenge I used Esri's Modern Antique Map as the basemap. I searched for a table of Magellan's ports but found nothing, so I asked ChatGPT for a .csv with ports, dates, lat, and lon. Even after some formatting tweaks, I got a result quicker than doing it by hand! #gis

#30daymapchallenge I rarely have to use rasters at work, so I decided to try some image classification for Day 6: Raster. 🤨 I'll have to keep practicing.

#30DayMapChallenge Day 4 - Hexagons. My attempts to map with #rstats continue. I used the orca encounter data from Day 1 and plotted it against the H3 index to see if the best locations for seeing orcas changed annually. #GIS
