This year's Cannes Film Festival could be filled with many high profile American films. New pictures by PTA, Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater and Jim Jarmusch are likely to land at Croisette. It's also not impossible that new Terrence Malick and Kelly Reichard will be ready.

Cannes chief - Thierry Fremaux is a very happy man today. 31 - this many Oscar nominations received films that world premiered at @Festival_Cannes last year. That has to be some sort of record. Emilia Perez, The Substance, Anora, Flow, The Apprentice all maxed out.

Can't wait for my 4th Berlinale! Hoping to see some interesting directors in the lineup and curious about the new Perspective sections. Berlinale has become one of my fav fests with the morning press screenings (take notice Cannes), v. comfortable Cinemaxxx and great press lounge.

Babygirl is great! Complex, smart, widly subversive and just simply *delicious" exploration of sexuality and power dynamics. The ambiance that Reijn creates! it makes viewers unsure how to react and how to feel. The needle drop are for the ages too and Nicole is ferocious here.

Interesting to see the new Christian Petzold film - Miroirs No. 3 having October release date. This could mean departure from his usual Berlinale starting point and maybe wanting to have a go at Cannes/Venice

Jacques Audiard wins Best Director at European Film Awards and likely seals his first oscar nomination given strong connections between EFA and AMPAS director category. Industry loves Emilia Perez and that's what counts.

Finally caught up with Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell, after i had to leave mid screening in Cannes due to high fever in 2023 and i'm in awe of the mis-en-scene and how mature of a debut it is. Truly astonishing! Thien An Pham might be new Tsai Ming-Liang.

In somewhat surprising turn of events, Green Border shows on up first 4 major top10 lists of 2024, as an only film do it it. It has 90 on MC, but didn't expect it to be high-brow fave. Let's see if it countinous.

I don't like these films. But i'm still happy about this weekend. Cinema will never die contrary to what people said. I myself saw 1/3 films i ever saw in cinema and don't subscribe to any streaming platform. Becaue the best way to experience film is in dark movie theater.
